Fílí's POV
I grabbed Abi's hand and pulled her along away from the eminent danger. I shoved her down the ledge to the others then jumped down myself.
"Kílí! Come on!!!" I heard my uncle order my brother. A few seconds later him and my uncle had joined us. We waited tensely for the Orks to come and attack when the sound of a horn and arrows being shot made it to our ears. As an Ork fell through the cave opening we jumped back until it was discovered that the blasted creature was already dead. Thorin came forward and inspected the beast. He pulled out an arrow head and growled
"Elves," was all he said. All us dwarves growled at the thought of the ones that betrayed us.
"I can't see where the path leads, do we follow it or not?" Dwalin asked.
"Follow it of course," came Bofur's reply.
"I believe that would be wise," I heard Gandalf say cryptically.
I started to move when I noticed Abi still trying to regain her breath. I watched her with concern as she wheezed .
"Abi, are you alright?" I asked. She looked up and I gasped. Her face was pale and sweaty, her lips turning blue, as I watched panic flooded her eyes, she grabbed her throat and chest as she fell to her knees.
"Abi?! Thorin something's wrong!!!" I yelled. The whole company rushed over to look at the hobbit.
"What's wrong with her?" Bilbo asked.
"Shit, she's having an asthma attack, Gandalf help her please!" Shania cried. Gandalf came forward.
"What is an asthma attack?" Gandalf asked Laura.
"Her lungs are constricting, she can't breath," was the curt reply. As the words were spoken Abi fell forward, I caught her before she hit the ground. Gandalf took Abi from my arms and lay her down. He moved his hand over her face muttering a chant in some other language. After a few seconds she started to breath again, as she started to breath we all let go the breath we were holding.
"What was that?" Thorin asked gruffly.
"Like I said, she was having an asthma attack," Shania replied shakily.
"What's asthma?" Bofur asked.
"To put it simply, it's when her lungs stop working," Laura said.
"Why didn't she mention this earlier?" Thorin growled.
"She's never actually had an asthma attack and it had apparently gotten a lot better to the point where she didn't think that it affected her anymore," Laura said.
"Well obviously it does," Thorin snarled.
"I'm surprised she was able to run that far," Dansoa commented quietly.
"What was that?" Thorin questioned. Turning on the second elf in our party.
"Asthma can be triggered by running, the fact that she didn't blackout sooner is actually pretty miraculous," Laura stated.
"Well let's get moving," Thorin commanded. As we started towards the path I stooped to pick up Abi. She was light enough to carry and also small enough to manoeuvre through the tight path. Now that I think about she's really quite small, even for a hobbit. Bilbo is about 4'2" which he says is a bit taller than the standard hobbit, but Abi can't be more than 3'2" at most 3'4", I'll ask Bilbo about it next time I have a chance.Thorin's POV
Apprehensively I followed the path, suspicious of the way Gandalf had led us here. We rounded a corner and all became clear.
"The valley of Imraldris, in the common tongue it is known by another name," Gandalf said.
"Rinendale," breathed our burglar.
"Here lies the last homely house east of the sea," I turned on Gandalf.
"This was this your plan all along? To seek refuge with the enemy?" I hissed.
"You have no enemies here Thorin Oakenshield, the only ill-will to be found in this valley is that which you bring yourself," Gandalf berated.
"You think the Elves will give this quest their blessing? They will try to stop us," I warned.
"Of course they will, but we have questions that need to be answered. If we are to be successful, this will be handled with tack, and respect, and no small degree of charm, which is why you will leave the talking to me," he said staring intently at me. I growled and we began our descent into the valley.
