Turn back.
Emma gritted her teeth and tried to ignore the voice in her head that wasn't hers.
Turn back!
"Go away." Emma growled gritting her fangs.
Emmaline you cannot continue on! Turn back and leave!
"I'm not leaving Maria to be lost with that monster!"
The creature will not harm her. It is already bonded to her and will protect her, but it may perceive you as a threat, now that you've bared your sword. Please, go home. You need not put yourself in unnecessary danger.
"Like I haven't faced worse before." Emma snarled. Her father's anger heated her chest but she lashed out before he could rebuke. "Since when have you been so concerned over my well being?"
Since the moment you took your first breath in my arms! I'm your father, I will always worry for you!
"You're more vocal about it now than when I fought in the Revolutionary War. I was literally on the battlefield and I barely heard a peep from you."
Your mind was closed off from me. You held those barriers strong but now you are lowering them. There was a long pause and Emma thought her father withdrew from her mind.
Emmaline, your mind needs to be open for me to contact you, and for the past few years you've lowered those walls. You've allowed our connection.
"I didn't allow you to poke my brain and pester me."
Emma....you and I both know that for one to contact another's mind, the receiver must give consent, they must allow that connection and allow their minds to link. It is the same for me. Even in my slumber, I must allow the connection to be made, and for you to speak with me.......and my mind has always been open for you.....if ever you needed me.
Even then I respected your privacy.
"You didn't that night with Caleb." Emma mentioned.
That was an accident! I had no intention of invading your privacy I swear! I wanted to make sure you were all right after being shot.
"Oh I was all right. More than all right." Emma chuckled. She could laugh about it now, but that night she was mortified. It was just as bad as if Alucard had actually walked in on them. He practically did. Emma thought humorously. Luckily Caleb was more than understanding and laughed at it.
