Emma loosened her claws."You're Juste Belmont? The Legendary Juste Belmont. The Greatest mage the Belmont family has ever produced? Richter's Grandfather?"
"The one and only." The old man shrugged dryly.
Emma had to laugh. " An honor to meet you, I'm Mary Antoinette."
"You don't believe me." The old man growled.
"Why the hell would I believe you?" Emma snarled. "Julia told me he died years ago, my mother said the same. You really think I'm going to believe Richter's grandfather was hiding out in the woods all this time setting vampire traps instead of teaching his own flesh and blood?"
"Well..... I've been up to more than setting successful traps." The old man shot a look at Vance. "I've watched over Richter ever since you brought him to France, keeping an eye on him and giving her money to support him. That was the agreement I made with Tera. Your mother too, I made her promise not to tell you about me, but apparently that giddy angel can't keep her damn mouth shut."
Juste cried out when Emma dug her claws into his shoulder. "Mother didn't say a damn thing! Tera told me where to find you, but she didn't reveal your dark secret."
If looks could kill, Emma would've impaled him. " All this time I thought Richter was the last , that I was the only one who could carry the burden on my shoulders of teaching the remaining Belmont everything I knew. I wasn't a Belmont, but I was the next best thing.I struggled for years, doing the best I could while doubting myself if I was doing the right things, and all this time you were right here?"
"I was." Juste grunted from the pain in his bleeding shoulder. "You've done a great job better than I ever could, and I thank you for that, Emma. You've really stepped up."
"It should have been you!"
"Good for Richter it wasn't."
" Why?" Emma bared her teeth. " I can't believe this. Mom, said you were dead!"
"If it weren't for her, I would be." The old man replied tense, before sighing in despair. "I owe that woman my life. She's my protector as much as I hate to admit it. I had nothing and she gave me something to keep living for, something to fight for, and she still watches over me."
"You can tell her that yourself." Emma shrunk her claws and forcefully hoisted him onto his feet. "Come on, I'm taking you to the doctor."
"I don't need a fucking doctor!" Juste protested.
"Yes you do!" Emma flicked his blood off her hand. "Those wounds'll need stitching and your guardian angel will elaborate certain matters I was kept out of the loop of!"
