Personality
Vance is a quiet and aloof vampire who often keeps to himself. Unlike others of his kind, he sees humans no different than vampires; sapient creatures just trying to survive. Vance is calm and collected, thinking before he acts and analyzing a situation before making a decision. Often acting the guide and the voice of reason to his Lady, Emmaline.
Vance is not ashamed of his vampiric nature. He knows what he is and doesn't try to suppress his hunger for blood, but he doesn't let it overtake him. He makes sure he doesn't get to the point of starving, in which he could pose a threat to Emma. He's very respectful of her, and feeds when she isn't around.
Vance is devoted to his charge, Emmaline Tepes, the granddaughter of Dracula. Over the centuries he has grown to love her as his own daughter.
Fun fact:
Vance is selective with his human prey and will mainly target criminals, petty aristocrats, mean bastards, and the occasional drunk. Never innocents or children. His diet consists mainly of animals. (Livestock is easy to feed on in his bat form).
Vance can walk in the daylight thanks to an amulet given to him by Emmaline's mother. He wears it in his vampire form. He's still sensitive to sunlight and wears a large hat (which is also good concealing his burgundy eyes)
If he needs to be hidden during the daytime he'll roost as a bat wherever Emma is staying, or stay in her pocket as a bat when she travels. (He secretly loves this but will never admit it.)
