JADE
The distance between our universities worked for a while until it didn't. Our schedules started to differ and it was harder and harder for us to see each other in between classes and waiting until our semester breaks came felt like forever.
This became frustrating, hurtful, and overwhelming. I haven't seen Asia in 24 months.
I've dealt with two females since. One lasted six months. The second lasted three. It was fun, but we each had our own differences and none of them worked, it became toxic.
In the end, Asia was the one who remained in mind. I missed her a'lot and no one could ever substitute her.
Desirae and I finished UCLA. Desirae became a star athlete, but I chose not to and started working instead. The dream I had at 18 vanished. The fees I had blew a hole in me and I had student loan debt to burn. The scholar' covered half.
I was now 23 and worked at a small electronics store called Electro Hut. The costs were reasonable, so we had a'lot of customers.
I was a merchandiser, sometimes a cashier, sometimes a driver. The store was understaffed. I had to do the tasks of six sometimes. It was stressful, but the income was wondrous.
Amid, the boss, walked out and looked at me.
I was restocking shelves.
"Jade." He called. "Yes?"
"I have ten new deliveries. You can deliver them when Ethan's break is over."
Ethan was one of six workers. Him, Oliver, and I were the ones in, our other three coworkers weren't here. Oliver was the accountant and the stock man.
"Yes, sir." I said.Ethan returned from break. I took the store's vehicle and left to make the deliveries. It was facile, but I hated doing them sometimes. A mutt chased me once. I ran so fast, it made me reconsider being an athlete.
I finished five deliveries. The sixth was at a small firm. The building was remodeled and looked new.
There were white marble floors, blush walls, a marble front desk, and modern decorations. It was mad feminine and chic.
"Hello!" I shouted, looking around.
A female came out from the back and looked at me. I stared her down... shocked.
"Hi." The female started.
I couldn't believe it... there she was...
Asia fucking Wilson.
Her attire was formal, the skirt she wore fit her ass so sweet, it looked massive. I couldn't resist looking. The woman was much finer.
Asia noticed who I was. "Jade?" Asia asked, her brows furrowed. "Um, hi." I said, a bit awkward. "...it's been a while."
"It has." Asia said, observing me. "You look different."
"You do, too." I said, viewing her from head to toe. Asia smiled a little. "You work at electro hut?"
"Yeah, I do." I answered. "And what about athletics?"
"The dream died." I said. "I don't know how, but it did."
"That's unfortunate to hear."
"You work here?" I asked.
"I own this firm." Asia answered. "I've started an accounting business."
"Damn, that's awesome. You've evolved." I said. "You're doing far better than I am."
"Well, it did take hard work and determination." Asia said. "That's true. You never fucked around when it came to work, little miss intellect." Asia beamed. "I wouldn't be here if I didn't."
"Your woman must be exhilarated." I said. "...I don't have one."
"You don't? And look like that?"Asia scoffed. "Now, what does looks have to do with it?"
"You're beautiful as hell and have a charismatic, fun, and likable mien."
"You love to flatter me."
"It's the truth, mamas." I said. Asia exhaled and stared at me. "You want to know the real truth? The truth I've been running from?"
"I'm all ears." I said. "I've had situations with other studs, but I've never dated them. I didn't want to. I didn't want to be distracted from school. You were the last distraction I had."
"And that's the entire, real truth?" I asked. "No." Asia answered. "I didn't want to remember us. It worked, but for a short while."
Asia breathed out. "These other women aren't Jade. You are." I stared at Asia. "I'd like for us to start over." Asia added. I cracked a smile. "If that's fine?" Asia asked.
"It is, I have no woman either. I tried, shit didn't work. You're the one I miss."
"Aw, I have a new number."
"I still have the old one." I said. "Yours was deleted." Asia stated. "Ouch." I uttered. "What's the number?"
Asia told me and it was added to contacts.
"We'll be in touch." I told her. "Yes, we will."
I delivered the electronics and said farewell to Asia. I made the last four deliveries and returned to the store.
I met with Asia when work was over. We chilled in her office and conversed.
Her and I started anew. We learned about our new selves and became familiar like before, turns out, her father funded her business.
