JADE
The next afternoon at lunch, I sat on a bench outside with Desirae and Makena. We liked the outdoor tables better. The fresh air was nice.
"Asia and I talked." I told them. I waited until we were all here to disclose.
"It's about damn time." Makena said. "It took a whole week for this bitch to utter a word."
"It wasn't like that with Solana." Desirae said.
I stared at Desirae, shook. How could she do that? How could she choke me like that? How could she run me over like that?
"Solana made the first move tho, not me." I said. "That doesn't make it better." Desirae stated. I succumbed to her words and sat in silence.
"Is Asia the new student?" Desirae continued. "Yeah." Makena answered. "You haven't seen her? The broad's beautiful as hell."
Desirae was late for the bus that evening.
"No... I haven't." Desirae stated, a bit disheartened at Makena's statement. I chimed in. "That's all Mak thinks about her."
"Yeah, I like her looks, but I don't want her. I'd hit and that's it."
Oh, for fuck's sake.
"That's all for Jae." Makena added. "Well, once Andre doesn't snatch her."
Desirae smiled a little, she was still bothered, but hid it. Her and I were no different.
Later, the bell echoed and school was over. Makena hit me with her elbow. I looked at her. "Your sweetheart's looking over." Makena said.
I looked to Asia. Her orbs were on me. Andre blocked her view. I exhaled. Asia nodded at him. He left and Asia looked to me once more.
"Get home safe, man." Makena told me. "You, too, bro." I said. Makena and I struck fists.
I walked over to Asia, she was still in her seat. "Your chauffeur left." I said. "You ain't chasing him?"
"No, it seems I'll be taking the bus for the test of the week."
"Hm." I smirked. "You're in honorable hands."
"With words like that, I better be." Asia said, standing. I smiled at her. "For sure, mamas."
I walked Asia to the bus shed and waited in line with her. It seems Desirae will be late once more.
"You have siblings?" I asked. "Yes, three little brothers and one older sister."
"That sounds like stress." I said. "It is, I'm fortunate to have an individual room."
"Oh, wow."
"You?" Asia asked. "I'm one out of one. There are no others."
"That's rare." Asia said. "As fuck." I added to her statement. "You want to switch?"
"Hell no. I don't want to live with all those damn monsters. One would suffice." Asia cackled. "That amount still causes stress."
"I'd still take that instead." I said. Asia rolled her orbs with a smile. "You think I'd be a cool sister?" I asked. Asia viewed me from head to toe. "Oh, for sure. You'd be fun. I can tell."
I smiled, feeling conceited. "Yeah, that's that shit." Asia chuckled. "I'm thinking of becoming a cheerleader. Andre recommended it, said the team's looking for a new member."
"Oh." I mumbled. "Is that bad?" Asia asked.
"Um, no. You can be whatever." I answered. "Just don't become rude like them."
"I don't crack that fast." Asia said. "Oh. You're tough, huh, mamas?" I asked with a smirk.
"I won't let a soul walk over me, not at home, not in here." Asia stated. "Oh, I like that." I nodded, feeling Asia. I'm far more interested in her now, damn.
"You could become an athlete , too." I added. "Oh, no, no." Asia shook her head. "I don't have the endurance for that, track isn't for me."
"I was like that at first and now look at me." I said. "It's still a no." Asia convinced herself.
"Good luck making the cheer team." I said. "Those bitches are mad active."
"Oh, I don't care. I'll make it." Asia said with confidence.
I smirked and showed favor. Asia and I boarded the bus and took different seats once more. It seems luck doesn't like me.
