"Mommy, what is this?" She inquired, holding out the weathered book for you to inspect.
Your heart skipped a beat as you recognized the familiar cover. For a fleeting moment, you were transported back in time, to a chapter of your life you had tucked away deep within memories. With a bittersweet smile, you took the book from Gyeoul's hands.
"That, my dear, is a diary. Mommy used to write in it,"
Gyeoul's eyes widened with wonder as she flipped through the pages, her small fingers delicately tracing the faded lines of ink. Suddenly, she paused, her attention caught by a particular page adorned with a faded photograph.
"Mommy, who is this?" Gyeoul asked, pointing to the image captured within the yellowed pages.
Your smile softened as you peered at the picture, your mind flooded with memories of days long gone. With a gentle sigh, you pulled Gyeoul onto your lap, enveloping her in a tender embrace.
"That, my darling, is someone very special," you whispered, eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "Someone who will always hold a piece of my heart."
"He's handsome!"
You chuckled softly at Gyeoul's innocent observation, your heart warmed by your daughter's admiration. Brushing a stray strand of hair away from Gyeoul's face, you nodded in agreement.
"Yes, he was," You replied fondly, gaze lingering on the photograph. "He was one the most handsome men I've ever known."
Gyeoul's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she looked up at her mother.
"Tell me about him, Mommy," Gyeoul pleaded, her eagerness palpable.
"He was my best friend," your words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of unspoken emotions. You gently withdrew yourself from Gyeoul's embrace, heart is torn by the past memory.
"Let's finish this first, shall we?" You attempted to deflect, voice tinged with a hint of reluctance.
Reluctantly, Gyeoul nodded, sensing your hesitation. With a sigh, she relinquished the book into your hands.
"Okay..."
...
As the night descended, enveloping your home in a blanket of darkness, you found yourself alone in the quiet solitude of your bedroom. With a heavy heart, you settled onto the edge of your bed.
Gently brushing your fingers over the worn pages, your gaze lingered on the faded photograph tucked within. A single tear traced a silent path down your cheek as memories long buried began to resurface.
Closing your eyes, you allowed yourself to be swept away by the currents of time, back to a simpler era filled with laughter, joy, and the unspoken promise of forever.
You remembered the first time your eyes met, the spark of connection that ignited a friendship destined to withstand the test of time.
Flashes of laughter echoed in your mind as you recalled your shared adventures. With trembling hands, you traced the contours of his face in the photograph, your heart aching with a longing too deep for words.
With a heavy heart, you whispered into the stillness of the night.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry that you fell in love with me-the one who can't love you the way you wished," you murmured, words carrying the weight of a lifetime of regrets.
In the quiet solitude of your bedroom, surrounded by the echoes of memories past, you found yourself grappling with the painful truth of a love unrequited. You had watched helplessly as he poured his heart out to you.
Yet, try as you might, you could not return his affections in the way he desired.
Then, the door creaked open, casting a light into the dimly lit room, your heart skipped a beat. Standing in the doorway, silhouetted against the soft glow of the hallway, was Taesan-the man who had captured your heart and filled your world with a love so profound.
Your eyes met in a silent exchange. With a gentle smile, Taesan stepped into the room.
"Hey, are you alright?" His voice was soft, laced with concern as he approached your side.
You nodded, your gaze still fixed on the photograph in your hands.
"I'm fine," you whispered, voice barely above a breath. "Just lost in thought."
Taesan's gaze softened as he caught sight of the photograph cradled in your hands, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"I remember that day," Taesan murmured, his voice tinged with nostalgia. "We were so young, full of dreams and aspirations. All so carefree"
Your eyes flickered with recognition as you glanced up at him, the corners of your lips quirking into a tender smile.
In the photograph, you stood side by side. You were nestled between two boys.
"We've come a long way, haven't we?" Taesan mused, his gaze never leaving the photograph.
You nodded in silent agreement.
And as he studied the photograph, a hint of jealousy flickered within him.
"He was so in love with you," Taesan chuckled softly, his tone tinged with playful envy. "It makes me jealous that he was much closer to you than me."
Your laughter bubbled forth. With a gentle shake of your head, you reached out to caress his cheek.
"He was just a friend," you reassured him. "But you, Taesan, you are the love of my life-the one who has always held the key to my heart."
His gaze softened, his heart swelling with gratitude for the woman who had chosen to share her life with him.
"Every day, I'm grateful that you chose me," he confessed, his voice filled with sincerity and love.
Your heart swelled with warmth at his heartfelt words, your eyes glistening with unshed tears of joy.
In that moment, time seemed to stand still. And as you gazed into each other's eyes, you knew that you were exactly where you belonged.
With a tender smile, you leaned in closer, pressing your lips against him in a sweet and tender kiss.
A soft chuckle escaped your lips as you pulled away from the kiss.
Taesan's eyes sparkled with warmth as he cupped your face in his hands, his touch a tender caress against your skin.
"You just made me fall in love with you again."
