The first light of dawn spilled over the Sheard mansion, soft gold streaks slipping between the tall curtains and across the master suite. Dust floated lazily in the beams, catching the warmth of the morning sun, and for the first time in hours, the house felt almost peaceful. Almost.

Karen stirred under the blankets, a soft groan escaping her lips as every muscle reminded her of the night before. Her back, her hips, even her thighs ached in ways that made her wince, but beneath the soreness, her body hummed with the memory of trembling, gasping, and shivering—of sensations that had left her alive in ways she had never imagined. She pressed a hand to her lower back, rolling slowly onto her side as she tried to stretch without wincing too sharply.

Beside her, Drew stirred as well, a slow, lazy grin spreading across his face as he watched her move. His chest rose and fell steadily, relaxed yet alive, the playful light in his eyes betraying the joy of the morning. For all his experience, all his control, all the world outside the walls of the mansion, right now Drew was just... happy. Warm. Content.

"Morning, baby," he murmured softly, reaching for her hand. His fingers brushed hers, gentle, teasing, warm. "How's my girl feeling?"

Karen let out a small, breathless laugh, tilting her head against the pillow. "Sore," she admitted, cheeks flushing as she pressed her hand to her back again. "Everywhere... my hips... my back... even my arms ache."

Drew chuckled low and warm, brushing a loose strand of hair from her face. "Mm... that's what happens when you're... incredible," he said, eyes sparkling with amusement and pride. "Sore or not, you were amazing last night. You still are."

Karen leaned closer to him instinctively, resting her forehead against his chest. Her body shivered at the memory of every gasp, every arch, every little tremor from the night before. "I... I didn't think anything could feel like that," she murmured, voice soft and hesitant. "It was... intense. Overwhelming."

Drew wrapped an arm around her gently, tugging her closer. "Mm... that's because it was perfect," he said, pressing a light kiss to her temple. "It was just you and me. Nothing else. And we... wow. Baby, you're incredible."

She let herself sigh against him, shivering again as the memory and the warmth of his voice mingled. Her body ached in all the tender places, but she felt alive, cherished, safe, and—despite her lingering soreness—completely whole.

After a pause, her voice softened, hesitant. "Drew... could I... maybe go home for a little while? To see my family?"

The playful gleam in his eyes dimmed slightly, replaced by the careful, calculating awareness that always lurked beneath the surface. Even in a moment of soft intimacy, he was Drew Sheard—the man who ran an empire, who measured every risk, every move, every possibility.

"You want to leave me?" he asked gently, half teasing, half serious, watching her closely.

Karen shook her head quickly. "No! Not that—I just... I miss them a little. I want to check on them. Make sure everyone's okay."

Drew's grin softened, returning to playful, though his sharp mind was already ticking through the possibilities. "Mm... alright," he said slowly. "But you know the rules, baby. This world... it's not like anyone else's. You step outside, and people are always watching. I can't... I can't have anything happen to you. You know that, right?"

Karen nodded, swallowing. "I know," she said softly. "I'll be careful. I just... I want to see them, even just for a little while."

Drew leaned down, brushing his lips against her temple and then the crown of her head. "Mm... alright," he whispered, voice low and warm. "Promise me you'll text. Call. Let me know you're okay. And... don't do anything reckless."

"I promise," she said softly, smiling through the flush of lingering embarrassment and pleasure.

He pressed a soft kiss to her cheek. "Good," he said. "Because I can't stop thinking about you, baby. Last night, this morning... you've got me completely spun."

Karen shivered lightly, warmth pooling through her, every muscle still tender but alive. She pressed closer, letting herself be held as he traced gentle patterns across her arm and back, careful and playful. The ache in her body mingled with the warmth of the moment, the joy of his presence, the intimacy of being together, and it made her chest tighten in a mix of vulnerability and bliss.

"You're still... on cloud nine, huh?" she teased softly, voice playful despite the shiver of tenderness.

Drew laughed, the sound soft and full of life. "Completely," he admitted. "I can't stop thinking about everything... every gasp, every shiver, every little tremble. You... wow, baby. You were unbelievable."

Karen's body quivered slightly, shivering at the memory and the gentle touch of his hands. "I... I don't even know how to process it," she murmured. "I'm still sore everywhere."

"Mm... and that's okay," Drew said softly, brushing her hair behind her ear. "That means you gave it your all. Every part. And it... wow. It was perfect. Just perfect. You don't have to worry about a thing, baby. You're amazing."

She pressed her forehead against his chest again, letting herself relax into the gentle weight of his arms and the warmth of his body. Her muscles ached, yes, but in a way that was almost pleasant now, a reminder of all she had experienced, all she had given, and all she had shared with him.

"Could... could we do it again sometime?" she asked shyly, teasing despite the lingering soreness.

Drew's grin widened, brushing a light kiss across her temple. "Mm... absolutely. I'd do it again in a heartbeat," he said. "Every second. Because you... you're incredible. And I can't stop thinking about you."

Karen laughed softly, shivering, still tender but warming to his joy and playful energy. "I guess I don't mind," she admitted, pressing against him.

Hours passed in soft golden light. Karen stretched gently, testing her body, shivering again at every reminder of last night. Drew's hands trailed lightly over her skin, playful and teasing, keeping the connection alive. He laughed softly as she flinched at the soreness, whispered jokes, and tickled her shoulder gently. She leaned into him, letting her head rest against his chest, feeling the warmth of the man beside her, knowing that even as the world outside demanded vigilance, inside this room there was nothing but light, laughter, tenderness, and the lingering ache of their night together.

Finally, Karen spoke softly again, hesitating. "I'll go see my family... just for a little while. Then I'll be back."

Drew smiled, brushing her hair back gently. "Mm... alright, baby. But you better hurry back," he said, voice teasing again. "I can't stay this happy all day without you."

Karen laughed, still feeling the lingering heat of last night and the soft ache in her body. "I'll be quick," she promised.

He kissed her temple once more, lingering, soft and warm. "Good. And don't forget... you're incredible. Every part of you. Don't ever forget that."

Karen smiled, pressing closer, letting the warmth of the bed, the sunlight, and Drew's joyful energy fill her completely. Her body was sore, alive, tingling from every memory, and her heart felt impossibly full. Drew's mind remained alert, as always—ever the mob boss—but right now, in this light, in this moment, all that mattered was her, her presence, and the lingering afterglow of the night before.
