"They wouldn't stand us up."
"Seriously, I just told you his name is Trevor." Julie says, "Guys, I think you're confused; that's my dad, Trevor Wilson." Luke scoffs, "Okay, great. Then... Then he changed it, all right? That's definitely Bobby. He was our rhythm guitarist." I laugh, "Please, my dad was not in your band."
"What were his other hits?" Alex says, looking at me. I think for a moment. "Um, get lost?" I say, Luke growls slightly, "Yeah, I wrote that!" Julie looks up. "long weekend?" Reggie looks at me and says, "Yeah, Luke wrote that too." Luke walks over, grabbing the darts and angrily chucking them at the board. "crooked teeth?" I say, "And that' Alex says, "It was about Reggie." I sigh. "What! I thought it was about you. I don't like the song anymore," Reggie says, looking away. "Wait. This is freaking me out." I say "Yeah, me too! Trevor's songs are kind of big to me. He's the one who introduced me to rock." Julie adds. "Yeah, Luke introduces you to rock," Alex sighs. "So this whole time, I thought you were connected to my mom." Julie says
"When really you are connected to my dad!" I say. Luke sighs
"He never mentioned you guys." I say
And that's unbelievable! Okay, he can take all the credit, and he doesn't even mention us." Luke throws his last dart at the board and yells as he does. "And he's rich." Julie adds, "He has a helicopter," I say, showing them a photo, "and he parks it in front of that hotel?" Alex asks. I laugh, "No, he parks it on our mansion."
"Mansion? Dude, we live in a garage." reggie says Luke yells "ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY" he says, I jump. "It's a little about the money," Reggie says. "He could have shared it with our families. Maybe then my parents wouldn't have had their house turned into a bike shack."
"What he did was steal our legacy." Luke says it angrily. "Where do you live?" he says, looking at me. "Above the beach in Malibu." I say, Luke, turn to the boys. "Let's go teach him a lesson," he says. "No wait!" I say, but they were gone. "We need to rehearse," Julie says. I sigh and sit down.
"Okay, boys. Break time's over, okay? Get to playing. Mama needs her eye candy." Flynn enters the studio. "They're gone." I sigh. "Where?" Flynn says. "We just released three angry ghosts on my dad," I say. "We need to go," Julie says, "now!"
When we get to my house, I open the door. "carrie? Are you home?" she sighs. "In the kitchen." I take a deep breath. "Go look upstairs, I say to Julie. She nods and rushes upstairs. Flynn and I head through to the den. "Where are you?" I whisper. "Um, right here." I turned around and Nick sat behind us on my couch. "NIICCKKK," I say. He laughs, "Cami! I haven't seen you in ages." Just then, Carrie appears. "Are these girls bothering you, babe?" she asks. I roll my eyes. "No, not at all," he says. "Hey, did you hear Cami and Julie's band are playing at the dance tonight?" Flynn says, "How'd you learn how to do all that hologram stuff anyway?" Carrie asks me carefully. I laugh. "The internet's not just full of makeup tips." She shoots me a dirty look, just as Julie comes down the stairs. "Can I have a glass of water, please?" I laugh. Carrie stands up and brings Julie and Flynn some water before sitting back down.
"Let's check out the hologram show." Carrie said, smirking. "Great. Um, I'll make sure all my buddies are there." Nick said he sounded sincere. "Ooh! How exciting. That's a lot of people staring at you." Carrie said, clearing her throat. "You girls remember where the door is, right?" she said, and I scoffed. "I live here," I say, chuckling. As I laugh, I spill some water on the floor. "Oh my gosh. I am so sorry! No, no, no, no. I know where the towels are," I say sarcastically. As I walk away, I see the boys standing outside. I signal to Julie and Flynn as I walk outside.
"So, did you guys have fun in there?" I said, crossing my arms.
"Okay, you'd do the exact same if he stole all your songs." Luke sighs.
"No, I wouldn't; he's my dad, guys! Seriously, I thought we were friends. Plus, we have new songs as a new band! The best way to get back at him is for this band to do great. And to do great, we have to play at dances, then clubs." and then Luke interrupts, "And tours we know." I sigh, "I'll see you guys at the school. We go on at 9:00 a.m. Please don't be late. There's going to be a lot of people there." I say desperately, "We got it, all right? Don't worry." Luke nods, and I walk away. "Come on, girls," I signal Julie and Flynn, and we leave."
school dance
"Do we have any bobcats in the house?" Flynn yells from her DJ booth. "Make some noise!" the hall cheers. "Okay, okay, not too much noise; there's an anger management meeting down the hall." Everyone laughs and goes back to dancing.
"How are you feeling?" Flynn yells to me and Julie.
"I'm a little nervous," Julie says.
"Scared shitless," I add.
"You'll be fine. All your gear's backstage. Come on." We walk up and meet Flynn backstage. "Omg, you both look amazing," she says. "Thanks, this is my mom; I finally went through her stuff," Julie says. "She would love it," Flynn says. "I went shopping," I say, and everyone laughs. "Are the guys here?" I shrug. "Not yet," Julie says, "but they will be. They know how important this is to us." I said, putting my arm over Julie's shoulder.
"Is everyone fired up for troubles and the phantoms?" Flynn yells. Julie is pacing next to me. "Keep that energy. We are a little behind schedule, but don't worry, just enjoy these mind-blowing beats." She says before paying a new song and walking to me and Julie, "Troubles and the phantoms?" I ask, "I had some extra time in physics." Flynn laughs, "And you best not, because I registered it on..." Julie interrupts. "No, we love it!" she says, hugging Flynn. "I would love it more if the actual phantoms were here, she adds. Suddenly, Nick appears behind us. "Hey girls," he says, and we turn around. "NICK!" Julie says. "Cami, look, its nick!" she says. I laugh. "I'm going to go help Flynn," I say, walking away.
Flynn continues DJing, and I dance next to her. I look at Julie and spot Carrie talking to her. I break away from Flynn and walk over. "I can't tell if the crowd is getting restless or bored," she said. "Never is a good sign." I roll my eyes. "Oh, hey, Camilla, Julie? got a new bag," she says sarcastically. "Actually, it's the hologram projector. I just did a little upgrade," Julie says. "Oh, so simple. You know, I was expecting something a little more sophisticated." She says, "It's what's on the inside that counts," I state. Carrie laughs, "That's what a lot of people have to tell themselves." She says, "Come on, Nick." She links arms with Nick and walks away.
It hits 11 o'clock, and the boys still haven't shown up. "I'm so sorry, Julie! There is no coming," I say. Flynn walks over. "I can only stall for so long; maybe you should play as a duet." I shake my head. "We can't play without them." I say, "They'll be here. They have to." Julie says. Nick comes back to the side. "Issues?" he says. "Yeah, stupid projection won't work," Julie says. Nick starts pulling the wire and reveals the plug I'm holding in my hand. "Here's the issue," he laughs.
"Hey, don't let this crowd freak you out. What I saw last time you played was insane. You got this. I knew you had it in you." He says this, looking at me and Julie. "Wait. What?" I say this as Nick rushes onto stage. "Hey everyone, we fixed the hologram machine! Who wants to see a show?" I looked at Julie. "hi..." Julie says, "Sooo, here's the thing." I say quickly, "Even though Nick fixed the machine," and everyone cheers. "We can't seem to link up with the guys... wifi, am I right?" Julie says.
"Were you going to have to cancel?"
