"We need to set some rules."

"Why'd you run out of dance class so fast?" Flynn says she and Julie are following me into the music room.

"Sorry. I just needed some air. It was a little intense in there." I said.

"Oh, I noticed." Julie added.

"Dancing with a guy you've had a crush on for forever will do that to a girl," Flynn said, nudging me.

"Yeah. But the whole time we were dancing, I was thinking about Luke."

"Seriously?" Julie said

"First off, I called it," Flynn adds.

"Second, I know you always want what you can't have, but Luke is next-level." Julie said, I laugh.

"I know. And now I think Ivan likes me. Ivan!"

"He totally does." Julie said

"But me and Luke just clicked. And he's so"

"Not real," Flynn said.

I sigh. "Julie, what about you and Nick?" I say. "I say you are dancing together." She smiles. "He asked me out!" We squeal. "Ahh, I'm so happy for you," I say, hugging her. "Don't tell my sister," I pull away, saying. she laughs, "No, I won't."

"Anyway, we need some rules," Flynn says, looking at me.

"Tonight, you're performing with Luke, so the key is avoiding those big, beautiful, dead eyes."

"You're very pushy today," I say, frowning.

"You're welcome," she says, and we all laugh. "Did you invite Nick tonight?" I ask Julie, and she nods.

that evening

Me and Julie are dressed and ready for the performance; she's in her white top and I'm in the black version of it. We match perfectly; we've been rehearsing all evening, and we are so ready to perform. "Remember, no eye contact," Julie whispers as she hugs me before the doors open for our performance.

All our friends cheer as we come out and start singing.

Running from the past
Tripping on the now
What is lost can be found; it's obvious.

I take a deep breath and do my section, looking around the crowd.

And like a rubber ball
We come bouncing back.
We all had a second act inside of us.

The boys appear behind us, and our friends cheer. I start dancing with Reggie as we all sing together.

I believe
I believe that we're just one dream.
Away from who we're meant to be, we're standing on the edge of something big, something crazy.
Our best days are yet unknown.
That this moment is ours to own
'Cause we're standing on the edge of great
(On the edge of great) great
(On the edge of great) great
(On the edge of great)
'Cause we're standing on the edge of great

Luke starts his verse; he's staring at me. I try to avoid looking over, but when does he signal for me to join him? I gulp and start dancing with Julie as Luke and her sing together.

To take us where we want to go
It's never straight, no
Sometimes we have to lean on someone else.
To get a little help
Until we find our way, I
believe
I believe that we're just one dream.
Away from who we're meant to be.
That we're standing on the edge of
Something big, something crazy
Our best days are yet unknown.
That this moment is ours to own
'Cause we're standing on the edge of great
(On the edge of great) great
(On the edge of great) great
(On the edge of great)

'Cause we're standing on the edge of

We start the bridge, and I stand on the piano, singing the end as it heads into my solo, unaccompanied, or as it was supposed to be.

Just shout, shout, and let it out.
What doesn't kill you makes you feel alive.
Oh, I
believe Luke starts riffing with the guitar, trying to get my attention. I look over, and he's walking closer and closer to the piano. I smile at him, sitting down on the piano, so our eyes meet.
I believe that we're just one dream.
Away from who we're meant to be.
That we're standing on the edge of great
Something big, something crazy
Our best days are yet unknown.
This moment is ours to own.

We're standing on the edge of greatness. On the edge of greatness, on the edge of greatness, on the edge of greatness, on the edge of greatness. We're standing on the edge of:

Julie was supposed to sing next, but she stopped nodding for me to come play. I sit down, playing the final section. The boys vanish, leaving me and Luke together to sing the final verse.

Running from the past
Tripping on the now
What is lost can be found; it's obvious.

he smiled at me one last time before vanishing, the crowd erupts to a mix of screams and cheers. Julie smiles at me as we take a final bow before mingling amongst the guests.

I get an army of compliments from everyone, when the party ends everyone leaves and me Julie and Flynn help tidy up before heading inside.

"I can't say this enough: that was incredible. " flynn says hugging me and julie

"But epic fail on that eye contact thing." she says leaning in to me,

"oops" I say

"So how do you do those holograms?" Carlos says looking over at us

"Oh, don't try to understand it, Carlos. I don't." mr Molina says laughing

 "That's because you're old."

"OHHHH" me julie and flynn laugh.

"I'd send you to your room, but then who's gonna clean up this mess?" mr Molina says quickly. we laugh.  "So what are the boys doing right now?"

"Hanging out, I guess." flynn says

"You know, or whatever you do when you're from where they're from." I add

"Hey, so, what cameras did you use out there?"julie says distracting her dad from the questions.

"Interested in my work? Well, uh... I shot with an XF105. That's what I used. The latest model. It's very good. But the other guys had the wide..." me Julie and Flynn pretend to listen in as her dad talks about the cameras.

I can't help but feel happy, everything's going well...
