The evening had started off with an unexpected burst of energy, with friends gathered for a laid-back get-together filling our flat with their vibrant conversation and laughing. Yoongi, who is often shy among others, surprised me with his charm and ease, fitting in with the group as if he had always been an outgoing person. For a brief period, I caught a sight of a side of Yoongi that I rarely saw—the Yoongi who was comfortable in the company of others. His uncommon chuckle shouted out among the others.
But as the evening drew on and our friends said their goodbyes, leaving us alone in our apartment's silence, I could see Yoongi's tiredness written all over her face. His smile vanished, losing place to a tiredness that made me want to cry, to lift his weight, to drive out the darkness that lurked in the shadows of his consciousness.
I reached out to gently touch Yoongi's hand as we sat down on the couch, the silence between us like an unspoken wall. It was a slight indication of understanding and support."Are you okay, Yoongi?" I asked in a quiet voice, breaking the silence that surrounded us.
With a groan, he lowered his shoulders as though the world was pressing down on them. "Y/N, I'm not sure" he said, his voice almost audible above a whisper. "I just... I feel so empty, so drained."
His remarks and the vulnerability he displayed at that precise time broke my heart. But rarely ever noticed it, Yoongi had a vulnerability hidden beneath his rugged appearance. He was always so powerful and controlled.
I moved closer to him and muttered, "I understand" as our shoulders touched. "With me, Yoongi, you don't have to do anything false. I'm here for you."He turned towards me, a mix of confusion and thankfulness in his eyes. "I just... I don't know how to explain it" he said, a hint of irritation in his voice. "I can be talkative and outgoing, but it drains me out. I feel like nothing is left inside of me after viewing that."
I nodded, empathy weighing heavily on my heart. Whispering, "I know, Yoongi" I extended my hand to cup his cheek. "I understand how difficult and draining it can be for you. However, you are free to be who you are and not someone else. You're not supposed to act like someone you're not."He leaned toward my touch, his eyes searching mine for confirmation. With shaking voice, he whispered, "I want... I want to be enough for you, Y/N."
"You are more than enough, Yoongi" I told him, honestly reassuring him. "You are everything to me."
Yoongi felt a sense of peace and understanding replace the weight of his worries and insecurities as we sat together in the silence of our flat at that very moment. And in a way he rarely did, Yoongi confessed to me about his problems while we held each other close.
He said, his voice trembling with emotion, "It's hard, Y/N. Putting on a mask and being around people exhausts me. However, I feel like I can simply be myself with you. And for me, that is everything."
His words caused tears to rise up in my eyes, so did the depth of his vulnerability and the courage it required for him to share his deepest feelings with me. I whispered, full of affection, "You don't have to be anyone other than who you are, Yoongi. I love you for exactly who you are—the introverted, thoughtful, and incredibly talented man that you are."I knew that our love would last, strong and unbreakable, for all the days to come as we experienced life's highs and lows together, finding solace in the quiet and strength in each other's arms.
