The argument started over something so petty that I couldn't even recall what it was about now. Perhaps it had to do with the dishes or the way he thrown his clothes all over the bedroom. Whatever it was, the fight had swiftly turned into a full-fledged fight. Both Jungkook and I were stubborn, and once we set off, we had no intention of stopping. "You're being ridiculous!" With a yell, Jungkook's voice echoed throughout our apartment.
"Me? Ridiculous?" I fired back, fury trembling through my voice. "You're the one who doesn't listen!"
"Yes, I pay attention! Still, you manage to find a problem with everything every time!"
"Because you never take me seriously!"
Both of us were breathing heavily, the tension between us unpleasant. Tears were burning at the edges of my eyes, but I controlled them. I refused to allow him to feel satisfied by witnessing my tears. "Alright" I gritted my teeth and replied. "If you think I'm such a nag, then maybe I should just leave" A flash of anxiety replaced the rage in Jungkook's eyes as his face sank. "Y/n, don't..." However, I had already grabbed my keys and was making my way to the door. Before I said something I would later regret, I needed to get out of there, clear my thoughts, and put some distance between us. I slammed the flat door behind me as I stormed out.
I got into my car and sat with my hands gripped around the steering wheel. My mind was racing, and I was experiencing an explosion of emotions. I was upset, furious, and completely exhausted. Finally, the emotions I'd been keeping back came out, and I hid my face in my hands while I sobbed softly. After a few minutes, I could constantly hear my phone vibrating in my bag. I knew it was Jungkook attempting to get through, but I was too weak to respond. I required some time to calm down and process what had happened.
The buzzing eventually stopped leaving me alone with my thoughts. I tried to relax myself by taking a few deep breaths. Though the fight had been foolish, the emotions that led up to it were genuine. Although I adored Jungkook, there were moments when I seemed we were speaking a foreign language.
A quiet knock on the car window startled me, and I looked up to see Jungkook standing there, his face full with worry. I took a second to obey his signal, which asked me to roll down the window. He said in a soft, begging voice, "Y/n, can we talk?" I wiped away the last of my tears and nodded. His presence was both reassuring and concerning as he opened the car door and got into the passenger seat.
For a short while, we sat in silence, but the tension between us was still obvious. Eventually, the quiet was broken by Jungkook. He softly said, "I'm sorry" while keeping his gaze on his hands. "I didn't mean to make you feel like I don't take you seriously" I turned to face him, my pulse pounding at his genuineness. With a weak voice, I said, "I'm sorry too, i shouldn't have walked out like that" His hand came over to take mine, his touch comforting and warm. "We both made unintentional remarks. However, y/n, we must figure out a better method of communication. I don't want our arguments to continue in this way" I squeezed his hand and nodded.
"I am aware. I just...sometimes, I get so frustrated. We don't seem to be thinking the same thing"
"We'll get there" he replied quietly, his gaze catching mine. "We just need to keep talking, even when it's hard" This time, the tear that ran down my cheek wasn't caused by rage. It was a tear of optimism and relief. "Jungkook, I adore you. I want to stop fighting over pointless issues" His smile was small but honest, and it made my heart skip a beat. "Y/n, I also adore you. And I'll do my best to improve, I swear. For ourselves"
With a fresh sense of understanding, we spoke while sitting there, holding hands and speaking softly. eventually, the hurt and rage from our argument vanished, to be replaced by a fresh desire to get things together. We discussed our worries, concerns, and aspirations for the future. The conversation was not easy, but it was necessary.
When we eventually got out of the car, the world was soaked in a warm, golden glow as the sun started to set. Back at our apartment, Jungkook put his arm over my shoulders and pulled me in.
I felt a wave of peace come over me as soon as we entered. Even though we still had a lot to go through, I was confident that we could overcome anything if we did it together. I realized that no matter how many arguments we had or how hard things became, I wouldn't want to be with anyone else as I glanced up at Jungkook.
