"This isn't nearly enough money!" He yells.
"I'm sorry dad.. please, I'll pick up more shifts, dad please.. I promise" I say, backing up while he walks towards me, I feel my back hit the wall.
That's when the hitting begins.
The screaming, crying and pleads coming from me weren't enough for him to stop.
What will be enough?

I groan as I try to sit up on my bed, but fail as everything hurts. Yesterday night was worse than usual.
I sleepily look over and see the time.
Crap! I'm gonna be late.
I scramble out of bed and brush my teeth while looking for a somewhat presentable outfit.
I find a green flowery dress which falls just above my knees and my white converse. I stand in-front of my mirror and see the horror show that my wavy red hair is.
I quickly brush it and make my way down the stairs, trying to not make too much noise.
Dad doesn't like being woken up early. I learned that.
I know he doesn't mean it. He just lost his job and times are difficult. He still loves me, I know it, this is just his weird way of showing it.
I rush outside and open the door to my car.
It was one of the last things my mother ever gave to me, for my 17th birthday she and dad had saved enough money to buy me a car.It might have also been the last time my father ever showed affection towards me
I'm a junior at the University of Connecticut and studying human development and family studies.
When I'm not at school or at home I'm doing as many shifts as I can at Chips Bakery. Mrs. Martin is like my aunt. She's always been there for me and loves me like her own. Her and her husband Daniel own Chips Bakery together, and they hope to pass on the bakery to me when I graduate. Both their children don't have any interest in having the bakery, and since I'm the next closest thing to their kid, they decided they would like to give it to me.
I do my best to run into the school building to make it on time. God I haven't ever been late before. I have two minutes to get to class.
I look down at my watch for two seconds, then the next thing I know my head is going face first into someone's chest and I'm falling back onto the floor.
I shut my eyes and brace for the hard impact my butt is about to experience.
Wait. I'm not falling anymore.
I open my eyes slowly and look to see what happened.
Standing before me, and holding my waist, is Paige.
Paige Bueckers.
The girl that I have had the fattest crush on since I saw her freshman year.
"Hey you okay?" She asks, looking down at me.
God shes so tall.
"Hah, well thanks. But I mean you are pretty short too." She smiles.
"Omg I said that out loud. I'm so sorry. Did I hurt you? I didn't mean to run in to you omg." I say, looking at her making sure I didn't hurt her.
"Nah I'm all good don't worry, are you okay?" She asks. God her what, six foot frame towers over my five foot three one.
