Paige
"Paige.. please.. help me"
Her voice is weak, barely there.
And then that's it. It's silent. As if she wasn't even there in the first place.
I'd never moved so fast. Never grabbed my keys and gotten in the car faster.
Running down the hallway I crash into a body. Barely thinking about it I dart back up, attempting to run but a hand grips my arm.
"Hey woah, where are you going so fast?" It's Nika.
"Daisy- she, I don't know. S-she just called me and said "help me" and then it just went silent! I don't even know where the fuck she is!" My heart is beating way too fast, my head spinning.
"Hey hey, here she has her location on snap right? Let's check there? I'll come with you okay, come on"
We're at the car in minutes. Nika's found her location on snap, she's in a park, in the middle of the night.
I drive over the speed limit, my knuckles are white as I grip the steering wheel. Nika's talking but I can't hear her, my thoughts are running about what happened to her. Why did she sound so weak?
We pull up beside the park, I shove open my door not even closing it. Looking around the whole park, but I don't see anything.
"Where is she? Where the fuck is she?!"
"Uh Paige.. what was Daisy wearing today?" She quietly asks.
"Uh, pink sundress, but now's not the time Nika" I grunt.
"Paige.. doesn't that look like a pink dress.."
I look to where she's pointing. And fuck me.
Laying on the ground is Daisy, in the beautiful pink sundress that I bought her.
My heart drops. I run to her.
My knees hurt as I drop to the ground beside her.
Her body is covered in blood, cuts, bruises. Her neck has hand marks, like someone choked her.
"Oh baby, no no no.."
Her breathing is shallow, she's limp. "Paige.. what the fuck.. I thought you were out all day with her?" Nika whispers, joining me by kneeling on the grass.
"I- we did, she was with me all day and then- and then I dropped her home.. her dad.. when- when I went to get her one day there was.. there were beer bottles and one hundred thousand different kinds of alcohol just laying around.. and I don't think her moms around. This has to be her dad" I say.
This has to be it.. why she flinches all the time, why she doesn't like yelling, violence.
This is where the bruises come from. I should've noticed, why didn't I ask about it?
"We- Nika we need to get her to the hospital"
My hands frantically pull off the sweater I had been wearing, placing it over her frail body.
