Ch8. The Brother

"Y/n! are you still arranging those breads?"

Ealfrida walked through the kitchen door to the front of the store, hands carrying a basket of another variety of baked cookies.

I couldn't help but sniff the air that filled with the smell of cookies. I stand up before walking over to Ealfrida, wanting to taste those delicious looking cookies, but before I even able to get close, Ealfrida hides the basket behind her back.

"Don't you dare" she glared at me and walked past to go ahead, arranging the cookies on the display.

I was pouting the whole time since I was so upset at that. What's wrong with a bite or two? How could she be that ruthless?

Eduart then merges from the kitchen with another batch of baked goods. After putting them down on the counter to cool down a bit, he takes a glance at my upset expression before take a cookie quietly and handing it to me. I couldn't helped but smiled too brightly at that gesture. I take the cookie and shoved it down my throat.

The sweetness of the cookie spread all over my taste buds. It was so delicious. The most delicious cookie I have ever had in my whole life. I should brought home some of these cookies to share it with people back home. I am sure they will love it.

I was smiling happily at that with my eyes closed without realizing that Ealfrida already done arranging the cookies on the display. Ealfrida looked between Eduart and I before sighing loudly.

"How can you give that to her just like that?!" she started to scold him before looking at me with her hands on her waist "You always be like that so that's why Y/n act like spoiled kid with us" she was acting like a mother scolding her two kids. I was the youngest while Eduart is her oldest.

Eduart grinned before grab a hold of my cheek and pinching it "if it wasn't us who spoiled her, who else?" I nodded my head repeatly.

"He is right. You two are the reasons I have the reason to smile this brightly" Ealfrida looked at me before to Eduart and sighed once again. "How can I say something else when you said that to me" she grabbed another one before handing it to me "don't shove it down like that, you might choke so eat slowly" I hummed, taking the cookie with two hand "Can I brought some of it home? I wanted share these cookies" Ealfrida hummed, "take some before the shop opened" I nodded my head and rushed to pack some of it to brought it home.

I am not sure if Eiser will eat it or not since he looked like someone who doesn't like sweets at all but we can always tried right?

After the bakery closed, I walked back home with my hand holding onto a bag of cookies. I am so excited to see the people reactions to these freshly baked and delicious cookies. I am confident that they will be overjoyed.

When I finally arrived home, I saw an unknown car parking outside the manor so it's make becoming wary. Did Eiser brought home a guest? But who? His friends? Family?

I walked into the manor and I heard voices coming from the living room. I was about to walk in and greeted them when I heard someone mentioning my name.

"I was told that you don't come to the party because of your wife. Is that true?"

I try my best hiding behind the wall to eavesdropping at their conversation, What is happening?

"I told you that I couldn't come because other matters to take care of. It had nothing to do with her"

A guy who look alike with Eiser but with gray hair and wrinkles scoffed. "Did you think I am dumb? You never really the type to skip out something important just for some other matter" he said, staring at Eiser as if he want to cause trouble for Eiser.

"I don't why you suddenly decided to marry the black sheep of that family instead of Selena. I thought I told you to marry her, not that one" he said again.

........ I understand why he said that. Unlike Selena, I couldn't help with anything, I am not good with business and I always acted according to my emotions.

"That one you are saying is my wife. Respect her" Eiser said sternly, his gaze at his own father doesnt flattered. He was firmly about that. Eiser was about to say more when I suddenly feel someone holding my shoulder before turning me around instantly.

I looked up at him and saw someone who look exactly like Eiser but more intimidating with a scar across his lips.

He trapped me between his arms before leaning down before speaking "What is little sheep doing here? Eavedropping much?" he whispered next to my ear,

"W-who are you?" I try to push him off me but he was way stronger than I am and I don't want to injure just anybody.

"Are you curious?" he smirked at that. Shivers travel down my body at his words. He was too scary..... I just know that he have bad intention. But.....I dont want to just accuse someone.

I fake a smile before lifting up a bag of cookies from earlier "Do you want to have a taste?" I asked him ,who look so flustered at that.

"Since they are talking about something so serious, should we eat outside? There's garden nearby so we can sit down there" I managed to escape as he let his guard down. I grabbed his shirt sleeves before dragging him outside.

He must be the brother that Ealfrida told me the other day. I know that they are not in the good term but somehow I still want to treat him kindly since he still a family. Who knows they might also become close later. .

I let his hand go as soon as we arrived at the garden that I always spend time at. I turned around and handed one of the cookie at him "you should try it. It really delicious" he looked at the cookie for a moment before back at my face "who eat this childish food?" I rolled my eyes "Hey, dont be mean. I really like this" I take back the cookie "even if you hate it, you shouldn't say that" I bite the cookie myself "it's might hurt the other party feelings" I looked back into his eyes "but I won't. Selena said those words too many so it doesn't hurt me at all" I smiled at him.

You know why I did this even when I know he is having bad intention earlier on? Ealfrida always told me since we were kids, that kindness can kill any kind of evilness, We just have to be smart about it. So that's what I am doing right now. Who knows we might just become friends.

"Are you just dumb or you are acting right now?" he said it, looking as confused as ever so I laughed it out. It was almost too funny seeing that reaction.

"You can just think that I am just a bit different than anybody else" I sat down on the grass, "People always told me that I am just naive and can't do anything by myself but I would like to refute to that" I glanced at him

"I can do things on my own. It's just I dont like to live my life negatively, that's all"

".....What did Eiser said about this?" I scoffed at that "unlike you, he doesnt said anything" I turned around to face him "what's your name? I am Y/n Serenity, the black sheep of that family" I hold out my hand for a handshake "just call me, Victor" I hummed, putting down my hand "nice to meet you" he doesnt say anything much about that anymore.

I guess I did it?
