—-Hiya! Back with a new chapter after once again a too long pause.... Sorry for that... I hope you'll like it !! —-
When I woke up the next morning, well rested for the first time since god knows when, I got up quite easily, swinging my legs to the side of my bed and testing my knee by bending it a few times. The pain wasn't unbearable but it was still a bit sensitive as I expected it to be. Thus I decided to keep my splint, opting to wear trousers that would allow me to move a bit more freely while still having the splint on top of it.
Walking wasn't really painful, but walking up stairs and staying in the same position for a while tended to make it feel a bit more sensitive so I just knew staying put in class would be a bit tricky. I was thus grateful I only had two classes that day (yes, since the finals were nearing they cancelled all the classes and only kept the most important one to leave us time to study), one of them being with Downey.
I got to his class early and took that opportunity to get inside the classroom, sitting at my usual place, pulling the chair next to me a bit and using it to rest my leg on it so my knee wouldn't stay bent too long. This could do.
The rest of the students arrived little by little and it was soon Downey's turn to walk in. He, of course, caught my eyes which followed his movement on their own accord. My eyes were actually completely fixed on him when I realised a little detail. He had a new shirt.
This particularly caught my eyes, because even if he was always fairly well dressed, he usually wore simple colours such as white, or very light blue but this shirt was a deep grey-blue that was strangely matching his eyes and making them stand out a bit more than usual. He looked handsome, utterly handsome. And to be honest, I was also utterly annoyed that I noticed it.
Apparently I wasn't the only one to notice it because the girl next to me puffed quietly "Oh he got a new shirt, finally changed up some clothes" she said hiding a snicker. Okay she did notice, but we definitely didn't have the same thought on that change. I know she might've sounded rude, but she was actually a sweetheart, and to be honest, I would have had the same reaction as her only a few months ago.
That's why I just raised my gaze and frowned "Oh yeah? Didn't notice that" I said nonchalantly, trying not to choke on the blatant lie I forced out.
Fortunately, Downey spoke up before we could talk about his attire further. He greeted us all and told us to get ready to work while he passed through the rows, which confused us all a bit until he got to the first students, asking them how they were feeling, one after the other.
The devil showing a soft side...
He went fairly quickly with all the other students, being completely professional until he got to me and chuckled "Well you..." he said in a breath, as if we were sharing private knowledge, as if he didn't even need to ask. Which he did anyway. "You okay?"
I ignored the bubbly feeling that was slowly undertaking me and laughed it off softly, without answering his question, I didn't need to. When he saw I wasn't gonna talk, he raised a brow and tried again "Were you able to go out?"
"Oh yes, that I was" I smiled, and as further explanation I shifted my leg a bit from under the table so he could see the splint. He audibly gasped "You fell?!?"
I shook my head and smiled a bit "No, I just pushed myself a bit too much" I explained and he frowned "You what?" he said, and once again, I had to swallow back the words 'old man'. Instead, I just repeated and he seemed to consider it before nodding once "Okay... Well... At least it cleared your mind, it's something you enjoy right?"
