Schoolyard of Voltaire High, 3:27 PM

Joseph was sitting on a bench surrounded by his friends. The afternoon sun bathed the area in warm light, but he couldn't help but feel tense, the night he spent with Lily-Rose weighing on his mind.

"So, was it intentional ? Spilling tea on Lily-Rose ? Was it a setup to get her attention, huh ?" asked Jean, posing the question that had been on his mind for a few days.

Joseph shook his head with an exaggerated sigh. "Are you guys joining in too ?" he replied, giving his friends a mock exasperated look.

"Yeah, admit it ! You're trying to show her affection in an unconventional way," continued Charles with a mocking laugh.

He rolled his eyes. "Of course not, guys. It was an accident, you know it." But his friends didn't seem to pay attention to his protests.

"Soon, you'll tell us you spilled tea on her intentionally just to spend time with her in the infirmary !"

"Yeah, that's right ! Joseph Descamps, the master of subtle flirting," the second one enthusiastically agreed.

The concerned party shook his head with exasperation. "You guys have really twisted minds. I told you, it was just an accident. And even if it was intentional, I doubt that's the best way to impress a girl," he admitted, feigning embarrassment.

"At least, you have her attention now," joked Jean, patting his shoulder.

Joseph shook his head with a slight amused smile. "Yeah, at the cost of my reputation for clumsiness."

"We all know you have a soft spot for her," Charles added.

The concerned party rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help feeling a twinge of embarrassment creeping up his cheeks. His friends knew very well that he was attracted to Lily-Rose, even if he had trouble admitting it to himself.

"Listen, it had nothing to do with that," he replied, trying to defend himself. "It was an accident, really."

Jean raised a skeptical eyebrow. "Really ? Because if I remember correctly, you already spilled a glass of water on her at the beginning of the year."

"Yeah, that's true," he admitted, grimacing slightly. "But this time, I swear it was accidental."

Charles raised his hands in surrender, a amused smile on his lips. "Alright, alright. We believe you," he said before giving Jean a knowing look.

"And yet, you don't seem to let it go, huh ? It looks like you've become her personal servant. A coffee, mint tea, and now rose tea ? You're willing to do anything for her."

"So, what are you going to bring her tomorrow ? Another coffee she hates, or maybe mint tea she won't appreciate either ?"

Charles burst out laughing, adding his own comment to the joke : "Yes, Joseph, you're really stubborn. It seems like you're determined to make her like your drinks even if she rejects them every time."

The concerned party rolled his eyes, accustomed to his friends' teasing. "Very funny, guys," he replied with a smile. "But you know very well that I just want to be nice."

Jean raised an eyebrow with a mischievous smile. "Ah, so you've become an expert in teas now ? Who would have thought that Joseph, the rebel of the school, would have a romantic side ?"

Charles nodded with a knowing smile. "Yes, Joseph, admit it. You have a crush on Lily-Rose."

Joseph shook his head with a sigh, deciding to change the subject to avoid his friends' incessant teasing. "Alright, enough about that. I was just wondering... how do you seduce a girl ?"

A surprised silence fell between them, then his two friends burst out laughing.

"Seriously, Joseph ? You're asking us that ?" Jean exclaimed between laughs.

He gave them a serious look, ignoring their teasing. "I'm serious, guys. I want to know how to go about it. I mean, how do you know what a girl likes, how do you show her that you're interested in her..."

"Wait, are you serious ?" asked Charles, incredulous.

"Yes, I am. So, do you have any advice for me or not ?"

"It's about Lily-Rose, isn't it ?" Jean asked, a smile stretching across his lips.

"Yes, it's about her," he admitted, finally owning up to his feelings. "I don't know, there's something about her that... confuses me, I guess."

His friends exchanged knowing looks before Charles spoke up. "Well, my friend, you've come to the right place. We're kings of seduction advice."

"Absolutely. So, what do you want to know ?"

Joseph scratched his head, thinking about the best way to phrase his question.

"Well, I don't know where to start. How could I show her that I'm interested in her, without seeming too... desperate ?"

"That's a good question. You have to show her that you're interested in her, but without overdoing it. You know, a little mystery can be attractive."

Jean nodded. "Yeah, and find opportunities to spend time with her. Invite her to do something you both like, like getting coffee or taking a walk in the park."

"You could also give her a gift, something like that. What does she like ? What makes her smile ?"

Joseph thought for a moment, then finally answered : "I know she likes books. But I don't know how to give her one without it seeming too... obvious."

"You know what she likes, that's already a good start. Just find a subtle way to show her that you care about her."

"The key is to be sincere and honest. Choose a moment when you're alone, and tell her how you feel. But don't forget to be respectful and give her time to think. And thus, she'll end up in your bed !"

What they didn't know was that she had already found her place in his bed, but not in the way they imagined.
