"Hey, where are you?"
"Hm? Why? I thought you had work today?"
"I do, it's over now though."
"I'll come over to your place then, I'm already on the road."
"Kay Kay."
I sighed in disbelief as I hung up.
I don't believe my mom but I also don't believe my brother either. He said dad died two months ago but I left the country a month ago so I would've known if something was up. But that doesn't explain...
I heard a loud clap and looked at Hyunjin sitting in the driver's seat. "What are you going to do when he gets here?" I rubbed my face trying to grasp my situation.
"I..."
Hyunjin's hand landed on my shoulder to keep my thoughts going. "Don't go crazy. Your mom could be lying. What if it's a saseang?"
I shook my head, "I know my mother's voice."
"It could be Ai." I shook my head.
I just got him back. How am I going to approach this situation?
Hyunjin shifted in his seat to look forward. "What the fuck do I do. I mean like what if she wasn't lying? What the fuck do I do? I'm freaking out bad right now."
My heart was quickening. I need Hyunjin because if he wasn't around, I wouldn't be able to confront Winnie about this. Hyunjin held my hand tightly, "Let's go inside first, and then we can get settled hm?"
I blinked at him so he'd see how dumb this was. His ferret smile appeared and he walked me to my door. I got inside and Hyunjin stood still at the door. "Do you understand that your mom could be telling the truth?"
I nodded and Hyunjin walked in taking off his shoes. He sat on the couch close to me and rubbed my arm, "Just don't panic."
I nodded as I listened to him. I let his words sink in like water as I watched the door open. My brother, the one I've waited for years to come. He was here, and we were gonna talk.
He smiled, "Hey sis..." He looked at Hyunjin's eyes and then mine and he could tell something was off. He sat down confused, "What's up?" I closed my eyes taking a deep breath. "Mom called."
He confusedly looked at me, "Mom? How does she have your number?" I shook my head not wanting to hear the bullshit. "Did you kill Dad or no?"
Winter stood up outraged while yelling at me. "How could you ever ask me that question?! I WOULD NEVER KILL ANYONE!"
Hyunjin stood up and cut in, "Calm down." Winter sat back down and Hyunjin asked, "What was the real reason you came to Korea then?"
Winnie said, "I wanted to see my sister." I glanced at Hyunjin and he glanced back at me.
I looked at Winter, "You said dad died in the hospital, but when I was there he was fine, and suddenly he has a liver problem and is surviving off medical tubes? Do you see how that sounds? And don't get me wrong, I've never trusted Mom, but the story adds up Winter. So I'd rather you be truthful than lie about it."
