Arabella and I strolled through the crowded streets, laughing and chatting as we browsed through the latest fashion trends. We had decided to take a break from our usual routine and treat ourselves to a day of shopping.

"I know you slept with my brother." Arabella randomly said.

I choked on my drink and stopped walking. "What?"

She smirked. "I saw you that night, on the couch. And then the next morning you left his room. And considering that he's been asking why you have been avoiding him."

"I am so sorry." I wiped my mouth. "I was really drunk. I wasn't planning on sleeping with him though, and maybe if I were sober I would not have done it."

But as we turned a corner, our banter suddenly faltered. We exchanged a look of concern, our eyes scanning the crowded streets. It wasn't until we heard the faint rustling of fabric behind us that we realized we were being followed.

My instincts kicked in, and I instinctively reached for Arabella's hand. "Let's get out of here," I whispered urgently.

Arabella nodded, her eyes scanning the surrounding area. We quickly made our way back to the safety of the car, but as we drove away, we could feel the eyes of our pursuer still on us.

I recognized those black SUVs. Groaning, I touched my forehead. Ava wouldn't let me go. Some part of me wanted to see her again, I missed our friendship. She was like my sister. We had grown up together and me not being there next to her must have been driving her crazy.

Suddenly, the car tires screeched and my whole world blurred. For a few minutes I was oblivious to what had happened, and when my vision returned, I panicked. Our car was laying upside down.

"Arabella!" I yelled when I felt myself being dragged from the car. "No! Let go of me!" I recognized George, Ava's personal guard. "Please, no! I can't go back!" I cried. "Please don't take me there."

"I'm sorry, Rose." He said, but he did not look sorry. He injected me with something and instantly my body weakened. Whatever he used, managed to numb my vampirism.

When I woke up, I was going to crave blood. I panicked. This was going to be a disaster, I thought before I blacked out.

My eyes fluttered open, and I was met with a familiar sight - my old room at the academy. But something was off. I felt a sense of unease, a sense of wrongness. I tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over me, and I fell back onto the bed.

"Why did you leave, Rose?" Ava asked, her voice cold and detached.

I looked up and saw her standing near the bed. She was frowning and her arms were crossed over her chest. Alberta stood looking out the window.

My mind was foggy, and I struggled to remember what had happened. I tried to recall the events of the previous day, but my memories were hazy and unclear. I looked at Ava and Alberta, my eyes narrowing. "What have you done?" I said, my voice wavering.

Ava's expression didn't change. "You left the academy, and we want to know why."

My eyes darted around the room, searching for an escape. But there was none. I was trapped. I felt a sense of panic rising up inside me, and I knew I had to keep my secret safe.

"I shouldn't be here," I said, trying to sound convincing. "I don't belong here. I'm not supposed to be here."

Ava's eyes narrowed. "You're being ridiculous, Rose. You're one of us. You're an Academy student."

My heart was racing now. I knew I had to keep my secret hidden. I didn't dare let them find out what I really was - a vampire.

"I'm not like you," I said, trying to sound convincing. "I don't belong here. I'm not...human."

Ava and Alberta exchanged a look, their faces skeptical. "What are you talking about, Rose?" Ava asked.

"Why couldn't you just leave me alone," I said slowly. "You have no idea what you have done."

My eyes snapped back to focus on Alberta, my gaze burning with an intense hunger. I felt her fangs lengthen, my mouth watering at the sight of Alberta's neck. Ava tried to step forward, but I was too fast. I lunged at Alberta, my hands grasping for her throat.

"Rose, stop!" Ava screamed, but it was too late.

Alberta's eyes went wide as my fangs sunk into her neck. The room was silent, except for the sound of Alberta's struggles and my labored breathing.

But just as I was about to take a deep draught of Alberta's blood, a strong hand grasped my arm and pulled me away. Christian stood before me, his eyes blazing with fury.

"Rose, no!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the room.

I struggled against Christian's grip, he was too strong for my weakened state. I felt myself being pulled further away from Alberta, who collapsed to the floor, gasping for air.

The room erupted into chaos as Ava and Stan rushed to Alberta's side, trying to stem the bleeding. Christian held me at arm's length, his eyes burning with a mixture of shock and concern.

"What happened?" Ava demanded, her voice shaking. "What did you do? What the hell was that?"

My eyes flashed with horror as I realized what I had done. Seeing the look of shock on Alberta's face, I knew that I had lost control.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, my voice barely audible.

Christian's grip on my arm tightened. "You're going to have to explain this," he said, his voice cold and detached.
