Chapter 13

Louise was on the phone with Brendon, her heart hammering in her chest. Someone came from behind and grabbed her. She screamed and everything went dark.
Groaning Louise felt like her head had an anvil attached to it. She opened her eyes and realised she was on hers and Brendons bed. Louise tried to sit up but couldn't move. Realising that she was tied to the bed, Louise looked around the bedroom. In the distance she could hear the dogs barking. She could also hear a helicopter and sirens.
As Louise's vision began to clear she realised she wasn't alone. Stood at the bedroom window was, Karl.
"Hey baby girl, I missed you. Did you miss me?" He said. Louise looked at him perplexed.
"What?" Louise couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"I have been following you around for weeks. And not carefully either," Karl laughed. "I thought you would have noticed by now. That fuckwit you are with, nearly got me the other day¹." He rolled his eyes and came over to the bed. He knelt down next to Louise and stroked her head. She shivered with disgust and looked away from him. "I forgive you for leaving me, you know. I know you only did that because others told you to. We can be together again, now"
Louise closed her eyes and exhaled. She just hoped the sirens she could hear, getting closer, were here for her. Louise looked at Karl. She didn't want to anger him. She knew exactly what he was capable of.
"I need the bathroom" Louise said.
"No funny business" Karl said untieing her bounds.
"I promise" Louise nodded. She got up off the bed and headed to the ensuite. Louise went to close the door.
"No! Leave it open!" Louise did what she needed to do. She went back into the bedroom. Karl grabbed hold of her and took her to the living room. He tied her to a chair. Bogart and Penny Lane came in whining at Louise's feet.
"Shhhh, its OK babies" Louise soothed. Bogart laid at Louise's feet. Penny Lane growled at Karl.
"Shut up mutt! I will kill you!" He went to kick the dog but Louise tripped him over. "You fucking bitch!" He said. He grabbed Louise by her hair and slapped her, hard. Louise's face stang. Bogart got up onto Louise's lap to try and protect her. Karl went to hit Louise again, but this time, Bogart bit his hand. Louise gasped and praised Bogart. Karl got hold of Bogart and threw him across the living room. He let out a yelp and ran off.
Louise looked on, horrified.
"You bastard"
Karl laughed evily. "Serves the little shit right"
"KARL HAGART. THIS IS THE POLICE. THE HOUSE IS SURROUNDED. COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP"
"Shit shit shit!" Karl said looking out the window. The lights from the emergency vehicles reflected through the windows.
