I wiped my tears as I laid across my bed, and pulled the covers over my shoulders.

My phone rested on my nightstand, chiming again with yet another text from Elise, I explained to her what had happened, but we hadn't mentioned it to Ayla yet.

I groaned and reached for my phone bringing it under the covers with me, the screen brightness making me squint as I read over her text.

Elly🤍: Bitch no way! where are you?!

-Home.. crying my eyes out.. can I come over to your place? Is Ayla there?

Elly🤍: Yeah boo that's fine, & I can call her and see where she is, let's have a sleepover like old times. I'm sure it'll make you feel a little but better.🥺🤍

-I'd love that.. I'll get up and ready now. Can we watch Mean Girls?😂🥺

Elly🤍: We can watch whatever you want pooks.  🥺🫂Let me know when you're out front, I'll give you the gate code.

I quickly sent her a response before locking my phone and tossing it aside, I quickly wiped my tears as I packed, glad that Eli was gone so I wouldn't have to deal with his questioning of where I was going. No matter how bad the arguments were; we never got violent. So seeing him even raise a hand to hit Mateo, his best friend; it upset me even more.

My birthday was honestly great, turning twenty-five is a milestone for sure. Mateo and I had even talked about moving my stuff out of Eli's... I guess that would be happening sooner than I anticipated.

After getting dressed, I grabbed my keys and rested the strap of my bag over my shoulder, letting out a sigh as I closed my bedroom door I then made my way outside locking the front door behind me.

As I drove, I tried my hardest to keep my emotions together, but the tears began to fall again.

"Come on, Chey you can't drive and cry." I muttered to myself as I came to a stoplight. I wasn't too far from Elly's  maybe about fifteen minutes with traffic. I reached a red light pressing my foot against the brakes, sighing as I wiped my tears. I couldn't wait to get ti Elly's, anytime we went through something she was the one that gave Ayla and I advice.

As the light turned green I pressed the gas, cutting on the signal so that I can get into the turning lane. Another text from Mateo came through, I felt so bad for ignoring him but there was so much on my mind right now.

Mateo🖤: You good mama? I haven't heard from you.. I love you, call or come through when you can.-7:30pm

I tossed my phone into the cup holder and rested my head in my hands again, tears brewing in my eyes as I began to cry, the sound of my phone ringing pulled me from my breakdown, Mateo's name flashed across the screen along with our photo.
