Targon stopped and looked at me, subtly gesturing for me to stop with his tail, and I bit back an annoyed sigh but did what I was told to do and stopped.
"Yes?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "What is it, Targon?" I asked and narrowed my eyes a little while I stared at him.
Targon bowed his head before he nuzzled my side, biting back a small sigh. "It's time to go back, Your Highness," he said and laid down before he looked at my grandmother and then looked at me. "I have kept you away from the king long enough."
But it wasn't...
I narrowed my eyes and scowled, digging my claws into the ground while I stared at him. I flicked my tail in annoyance, not knowing why he thought it had been long enough when it hadn't been.
How dare he say that he didn't need anyone's protection when he had no idea what we were facing. How dare he try to risk his own life when there was no need for it.
"Hush," Targon softly scolded and nudged me with his head when he heard those thoughts cross my mind, and I growled and snapped at him, baring my teeth.
He blinked unamused, not phased by my behavior. "He will learn in due time that he will need us just as much as we need him, Your Highness," he said calmly. "For now, you need to shift back into your human form."
My grandmother sighed and looked between us, and we looked at her. "Does that mean I have to get off your back, Targon?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I held back an eye roll while I narrowed my eyes and scowled.
Targon nodded and shook out his body a little, earning tsk from my grandmother.
"Ok, ok, Targon," she said with a small chuckle. "I will get off of your back. Give me a moment so that I don't hurt myself."
Targon held back an eye roll but didn't say a word whi;e we watched my grandmother get off of his back.
"Is it going to hurt?" I asked and looked at Targon while I cocked my head, hesitating. "Or is it going to take a long time?"
"No," Targon said with a shake of his head. "We will talk about why it was so painful for you to shift in your dragon form later, but it will not hurt you to shift back into your human form."
I narrowed my eyes and scowled, pressing my ears to the side of my head. "But you thought that way for when I was shifting into my dragon form, Targon," I replied, coldly, "but look what happened."
Targon bit back a small sigh and slowly nodded, pursing his lips in annoyance. "I know," he said solemnly, "and I will find the cause of it for you. You have my word."
I flicked my tail and slowly nodded, feeling very relieved. "Do you think that I will be going through this each time I shift?"
Targon shook his head no and stayed silent.
We can try it out, Sylias said, and if we are in pain then we can at least push it until we are human and then figure it out later.
I bit back a small sigh and mentally nodded. Ok, I said and flicked my tail before I looked at Targon. "How am I supposed to shift into my human form?" I asked and cocked my head while I studied him.
"Do you know how your human form looks?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question. He nuzzled Andromeda when my grandmother moved to his side after she had gotten off of his back and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Yes," I said and nodded in confirmation. "I know how I look in human form."
"You will have to imagine yourself as your human form and then imagine yourself transforming into your human form," Targon said. He nudged my grandmother to the side, and my grandmother tsked and rolled her eyes.
"Yes, yes, I know, Targon," she said, biting back a small chuckle. "I need to get out of the way so that you can transform back into your human form." She slowly walked to the side and placed her hands behind her back. She didn't say a word while she stared at us and waited for us to change back into our human form.
My guard rolled his eyes before he looked at me. "Do you want me to do it first so that you can see what needs to happen before you shift?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I nodded in confirmation.
"Please," I said and flicked my tail, feeling very nervous. I looked at my grandmother before I looked at him. "Show me."
Targon nodded and shifted back into his human form in a blink of an eye. He bit back a small smile and bowed his head a little when he saw the surprised look on my face. "Now, go ahead and shift. Close your eyes and take a deep breath before you do it."
I bit back a small sigh before I slowly nodded. "Ok," I said and flicked my tail before I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, letting it out with a small whoosh.
Oh Gods...
Please let this work, I silently prayed and flicked my tail again. I took another deep breath before I released it with a small whoosh and then imagined myself as human, shifting from this form to the next like water flowing with such fluidity and grace while it moved down a set path.
The world seemed to grow larger while my whole body grew warmer and shorter, and I kept the image of my human form in my mind while I waited for the shifting to finish.
And thankfully it didn't take as long as me shifting into my dragon form...
"Oh, my beautiful girl," my grandmother said, biting back a small sigh of relief. "You are able to open your eyes, now, my Love. You are safe."
I didn't respond and stayed silent and still, not knowing if I was going to be in pain if I did so. I could feel that I was in something different than the clothes that I was wearing, but I had no idea what it was and why I was dressed like this.
"Open your eyes, Your Highness," Targon said in our tongue, and I had a feeling that he bowed his head. "You are safe and have fully shifted in your human form."
I bit back a small sigh of relief and slowly nodded before I unfurled myself from the small ball before I opened my eyes and looked around, sitting up and looking around.
Thank Gods...
"Your Highness?" Targon asked, and I looked at him with a small scowl on my face. He bit back a small smirk and slowly bowed his head. "How are you feeling? Are you able to move and talk?"
I rolled my eyes and licked my lips, feeling as if my mouth was dry. I felt fine, better than what I had been feeling before I had shifted, and I was grateful that I wasn't in pain. "I'm ok, but I am thirsty," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Targon bit back a small smile and slowly nodded. "I know," he said before he cleared his throat and walked over to me. He held out his hand for me to take, and I hesitated before I took my hand in his. "We will get you some water once we are back to your house. You have my word."
