The night it happened, Dinah reassured Camila by saying Lauren was probably just freaked out and needed a little time to let it sink in. Finding your soulmate was a big deal and most people didn't find theirs so young. Some people didn't find theirs at all. Like Camila's mother. Camila agreed and decided to give Lauren the night to calm down.

The next day, she skipped class to find Lauren instead. She had never seen her before last night, obviously not in person but also not in pictures either. Has never even heard of her, even. Their university is big so that makes sense. Camila just felt a little bad because she's one of the most well-known people there, due to her family's money and her social status, so Lauren had probably known of her for a while now. She wondered what Lauren thought of her. Hoped she thought something good of her.

She came prepared, having asked a secretary for any information she could give him on a girl named Lauren. It would've been shady and worrisome, but she was still glowing with the aftereffects of kissing her soulmate for the first time and once she explained the situation and showed the secretary her mark, she had helped her track her down.

She wanted to get flowers but a bouquet of roses seemed a bit over the top so she bought the bouquet but left it in her car, only bringing one flower in with her. Lauren seemed like the type of person who didn't like to cause a scene, which was a bit unfortunate because the previous night was perhaps the biggest scene that could've been caused by soulmatching.

So many people on campus were talking about it. Camila noticed the whispers as she walked past groups of people, noticed the curious stares trying to figure her out. She hoped her soulmate didn't mind too much.

She waited outside Lauren's lecture, not having the guts to go inside and interrupt, even though that was now an acceptable thing to do given Lauren was her soulmate. She leant against the wall and tried to think of what she was going to say, but couldn't really come up with anything. All she really wanted was to wrap her arms around Lauren and squeeze her tightly. She didn't even need to kiss her. She just wanted to hold her. To feel their heartbeats aligning together.

So she stood waiting, wearing a soft black button-up tucked into her favorite black trousers with white pinstripes, and the same white Tommy Hilfiger shoes she wears all the time. She wanted to look nice. She wanted to make a good impression.

As it turns out, it didn't matter what Camila looked like. Lauren hardly even looked at her.

The smile melted off Camila's face as soon as she realized what was happening.

Lauren didn't want her.

Heart thudding in her chest, heavy weight sinking in her stomach, she tried to give her the rose anyway. She wouldn't take it.

"I'm sorry. I can't. Just- don't."

Lauren ran away again.

Not actually running but that's what it felt like. She turned around and bolted, disappearing in seconds.

Camila didn't know what to do. She couldn't chase after her without feeling like a creep, so she didn't.

But she wanted to.
