Chapter thirteen

Melinda had gotten her stuff ready, to go to Mall Of America with her stepmom and her friends. Only thing that she was gonna miss is sleeping next to Jim at night. But they can always do a video call like they use to. Melinda had held Jim close to her. She didn't want to leave him. But knew that she was looking forward to this trip. So Melinda had deiced to go. Jim had told her that if, he is not there when she got back, or she can't get a hold of him, he is on a call and will get back to her just as soon as he can. Melinda told Jim okay that she loves him and that she will see him when she gets back. Jim had dropped her off at her dad's. She told her dad and Amelia that it was going great at Jim's, and everything that happened with Mandy. They couldn't believe. The girls headed to the airport, and got on a plane to go to Minneapolis Minnesota to Mall Of America. Once they got there they went to their hotel, Hampton Inn &Suites Minneapolis St. Paul Airport- Mall of America. Melinda couldn't believe how big the room was. They set their stuff down and hit the mall. The first store that they went in was Victoria Secret, Melinda had gotten a few blue lingerie and Delia had gotten some red. While Amelia got some green. Only one that didn't get any lingerie was Andrea. The next store that they went to was, Bath and Body, they all got at least 200 dollars worth of stuff there. Spent at least 100 at Claire's, 150 at hot topic. Got new binki at anything but water. They stopped at Xscape Arcade, had some from then went to Nickelodeon Universe and had some fun there, before heading back to get some sleep and swim some in the pool that the hotel had, before going to bed for the night. They were having a lot of fun. Mean time back in Grandview New York, they investigation was over, Mr. Wakanna had lost his job, Mandy mom Sheri had pressed charges, and he and Ms. Locke was getting a divorce. Jim had gotten the job at the station. He was happy about that, he called Melinda to tell her about it. She was happy about it for him. She knew that he wanted to be with friends and work with them. Melinda couldn't wait to return home though to be with Jim she was missing him like hell. When the time did come that it was time to go home. Melinda was happy to be home. When she got there Jim was not there. She got worried but then thought where he might be. Melinda went to the station, and asked for Jim and they told her that he is inside. Jim was laughing about something with Bobbie, when he noticed Melinda and ran to her. They hugged for the longest time. Melinda told Jim that she missed him and he told her that he missed her too. Jim introduced her to Bobbi, Noah, Tim, Ritchie, and Will. They all told her that it was great to finally meet her. That Jim's been doing nothing but talk about her since he started working there. Melinda told him that was sweet. Jim brought her out the bay, Melinda asked what was wrong. Jim told her that he heard about the investigation, and told her what happened. That he left notes for what to do with the class and the level of math work that everyone was on for the next teacher. Melinda smiles at him and tells him thank you. Jim tells her that she is welcome, but he is staying here as a paramedic, that she can look at it this way, at least he can help her with her gift that she has, he can get the reports about what happened to them. Melinda hugs him and tells him that he is the best. She would like that. Jim smiles and tells her that he will be home soon. That he is glad that she knew where to find him, that is one thing they both loved about their connection, They both knew where to find the other one so that they wouldn't worry about the other. Melinda had went home and got ready for bed. She put on her blue see-through lingerie on. When Jim got home he was, surprised at what he had found. Rose petals led to the bedroom, with Melinda on the bed in a blue see-through lingerie and candles lit. Jim took off his clothes and was hard as hell. Melinda smirks is that for me, Jim told her of course it is. They kissed each other passionately and Jim stripped her and they made passionate love screaming each other name, neither of them thinking about protection and what could be the consequences of not using any protection. Without thinking about it Jim came inside of Melinda while she came all over him. When Jim pulled out of her and realized that he didn't have anything on, he started to panic some about what had just happened. Jim wanted a family with Melinda, but not until she was out of school all together. Melinda notice the look on his face, asked him what was wrong, he told her Mel I came inside you without protection, you could end up pregnant, your still in school and I promised your dad I would wait until you were out of school. Melinda told him don't worry we will figure something out. Jim asked her like what, she told him about the morning after pill that, she can go get it before she heads to school. Jim tells her okay. He was still worried about her being pregnant with his baby already. When morning came Melinda got up for school and got in the shower and got dressed, and was worried about what would happen between her and Jim now. He barely held her last night. She was getting ready for school when Jim got up, he kissed her good morning, she returned it back, Jim asked if she was hungry, she told him no that she will eat, at school after she stops off at the pharmacy for the morning after pill, so he can stop worrying. Melinda headed to the door, Jim ran after her and grabbed her gently by the waist. Mel what is wrong and don't tell me nothing, we been together long enough to know when something is wrong so talk to me. Melinda told him that he is, ever since he realized that they didn't have any protection last night. Jim told her that he was sorry about that, He just don't want her dad to be mad at him is all. Melinda told him that we have this, that she promises him that. He kisses her deeply and tells her that he loves her. Melinda kisses him back and tells him that she loves him too. She left to go to the pharmacy and got the morning after pill, She got something to drink to take it and then headed to school and ate breakfast with her friends. She didn't say anything to anyone about what happened last night. When they got to the math class, no one liked what the seen, it was their old teacher Mr. Bouche that always assigned way to much homework, he also didn't follow Jim's notices he did things the way that he did before. When Melinda got home Jim was not there, she did her homework but her math. She cooked supper and put Jim's away, when he got home she was still eating her supper. Jim ate with her and asked if she got her homework done, Melinda yes all but her math homework, because it is the one he replaced and he didn't go by his notes. Jim told her that he should of, he was angry about that. He helped Melinda with her homework. Before they had went to bed that night. Melinda had told him that she took the pill. Jim told her that he was thinking about it all day, and he shouldn't of acted like that, that he is sorry about the way he acted, if they did have a baby, that he would watch the baby during the day and she can at night. Or they can put the baby in day care so that they, can both be home at night with the baby. Melinda smiled and told him that it is a thought they can think about. They both held each other all night that night. Melinda wondered what it would be like if she did have one with him. She knew that Jim was the best guy that she knew and that she loved him with all her heart, that he loved her with all of his. He accepted her gift and that was the best. But she also feared that her baby would somehow inherit the gift from her and that was something that she wasn't sure if her or Jim would be able to accept or handle at all. Even though they both agreed at one point that they would deal with things as they came together. No matter what that was at all. So deep down she knew that they would be handle that. Melinda wasn't sure how the school would react when it came to her, bringing Jim to her senior prom, that would be coming up in the following month. But there was one thing that she knew for sure, was that if they didn't accept him to go, that she was not gonna go at all. She wanted to be with her boyfriend and take him no one else. While Melinda was in school had asked the school himself if he could take her to prom if he promised to leave his license in his car, so that no one gets any ideas about anything. The school agreed to his terms so he asked, Delia and Andrea to let him know when they were going shopping for prom, and to convince Melinda to go with them. He was gonna help with getting things if he needed to. Because he knew that she was thinking about not going. He was gonna purchase the tickets, I will tell her to go with you girls as well, because I am taking her out somewhere special, she will never know that we will be going to prom. They told him that they had a deal. Melinda had told them that she was not going to be going to prom, since she doubts they will Jim come with her. When tickets was being sold at the school, Andrea had snuck a text to Jim to tell him that they were now selling tickets for prom. He told her okay that he will, sneak there and pay for them some how. He did just that while the girls were at lunch. When they were outside, Jim had snuck up on Melinda, he was in his paramedic uniform. Melinda had smiled and told him that she loves when he wears that. Jim smiled and whispered in her ear, I know how much you love watching me take it off, or take it off for me. Melinda smirks and tells him that he knows it. Jim ask her so since we have been doing what your dad wants, think he will let you make it permanently. Melinda tells him that she hopes so. That they have to and ask him when he gets some time off for work. Jim tells her that he doesn't Saturday so they can go and see him. Melinda tells Jim that it was a good idea. He winks at Delia and Andrea as well. He kissed Melinda and told her that he will see her tonight at 10. That if she think she can wait for him, if not it was okay to go to sleep, that he will try not to wake her up. Melinda tells him no wake me up please, I love knowing that you made it home safe to me. Jim told her okay that she will. They shared a kiss and Mandy got mad and didn't like it at all. Jim told Melinda that he loves her, Melinda told him that she loves him too. Melinda had called her dad, and Amelia answered the phone, she asked about permanently moving in with Jim. Amelia told Melinda that she is all set to do that. Her dad and her deiced that when, they had gotten back from the trip. You got good grades still and your close to the end, of the year, that they have faith in her, that when she can let Jim know that. When it was time to go home, Melinda had did her homework all of it, she ordered take out that night, and put Jim's in the microwave, wrote him a note saying babe, your food is in the microwave, don't forget to tell me when your home, if I am asleep when you do get home, I love you so much. Love Melinda. She tried to stay awake but she couldn't she fell asleep on the bed, watching tv. Jim came home a little after 10. He found her note smiled and, warmed up his food, ate supper before changing into his pajama bottoms and no shirt on at all. Jim had gently shaken Melinda and said," honey I am home". Melinda woke up and said hold me, Jim got into bed and held her close to him. In the morning she told him what Amelia had told her, He smiled and told her that is great. Melinda smiled at him. I thought maybe we can celebrate tomorrow since it is Saturday. Jim told her maybe depends if he has to cover a shift. She was a bit disappointed on that. They fell asleep with each other. When Melinda was woken up by a noise, she went to see what was up. and seen a ghost and asked can I help you, the ghost tells her that he don't where he is, that he needs her help, last that he remembers he was traveling with his new wife. Melinda had gotten what she can from him. Jim woke up not feeling Melinda there and got up. Seen her in the kitchen, Mel everything okay honey, She told Jim that everything was fine to go back to bed. Jim told her no that something was wrong he knows it is. She filled him in on everything, He told her alright I will go in tomorrow and see what I can find out, meantime you go shopping with the girls help them pick out prom dresses, you pick out something nice, because on prom night I made a reservation for us at a nice place. Melinda smiled at him and kissed him. They went back to bed and held each other for the rest of the night. When the morning came, Jim went in for a bit to get what he said that he would for Melinda, and she went shopping for things that would be needed for prom, that she was led to believe that she was going to a restaurant. When she was really going to prom with Jim. He just didn't tell her what he was really up to at all. When he got the things that was needed he met Melinda back at home, when he seen what she brough he smiled at her. Told her that she was gonna be the most beautiful one there at the restaurant, he was still making her believe that. Melinda smiled at him and asked what he was gonna wear. He told her she will see when the time came. He handed her the report and she thanked him for that. Melinda had helped the ghost and he moved on into the light. Melinda had once again thanked Jim for his help. He told that she is always welcome. They spent the rest of the day together just hanging out, watching movies, when it came time to eat they had cooked supper together like they did when, he was teaching at the school. That was what Melinda had loved doing with him the most. She missed it when they didn't do it for awhile. They made Steak & Potato Skillet together, Melinda tells him that it smells amazing. Jim tells her that anything they make together will, making his girlfriend smile. When she was getting out there plates Jim went in, his paramedic jacket and, set a jewelry box on the table. Melinda put the plates on the table, and notices the box while Jim went to get their drink, Melinda opened the box and seen a heart necklace. Melinda smiled and told Jim that it was beautiful. She loved it. Jim told her that she was more beautiful, He helped her put the necklace on. At first Melinda thought it was a ring, to be truthful with herself she wanted it to be. But her Jim only together for 7 months and to Jim that it maybe it maybe to soon for them. But Melinda knew that she wanted to spend her life with him. Jim had ended up getting her a ring but wanted to wait for a special moment. He planned on doing it the night, after they came back from prom. That was something that he was keeping to himself though not even her friends knew that he was thinking that. No one but Jim knew that he was thinking that. Jim loved being with Melinda, and knew that she loved being with him just as much. When it came to the night of prom. Jim asked her if she was ready to go, Melinda told him that she was ready to go. They left the house and Melinda was surprised that they were at the school. She asked Jim what was going on, he told her that he got the approval to be here with her. He left his id and everything in the car. He brought her inside, everyone was surprised to see them together there at the prom. Melinda had thanked him for bringing her there but he didn't have to. Jim told her that he did because he didn't want her to miss her prom because he couldn't be there with her. Melinda smiled she didn't know what to say, Her friends was glad that she was there, Mandy was dateless and was jealous because everyone but her had dates. Jim told her that she looked beautiful, Melinda told him that he looked handsome, and asked what else was he up to tonight. That she knows him better than he thinks she does. Jim told her that she has to wait, for any other little surprises that he may or may not have instore for her. Melinda had gotten mail at her dad's place, since she didn't change it to Jim's address yet. That was something that she had to do. They were glad that she got accept to her online college that she wanted to go to, Liberty University. Tom called Melinda and told her that she had gotten accepted there, She was happy and another reason to celebrate tonight. She told, Andrea, Delia, Charlie and Jim. They were all happy for her, Melinda told her thank you, it is online but I still can focus on other things too, Andrea is leaving Grandview to go to New York to be a lawyer, Delia is be a realtor and Charlie is gonna be contractor. Jim smiles and tells them good luck. They tell him thank you. He ask them all to join them for dinner, they accept his invitation. When they get to the restaurant Melinda sees her dad, Amelia, her mom and her mom's boyfriend Paul. Melinda asked what was going on, That her mom doesn't know they are together, and she wouldn't approve of them. Jim told her it is time that she knew about us Mel, and I want everyone you care about here, when I do this. His friends, Ritchie, Will, Freddy, Bobbie and Noah should up. Melinda confused on what was going on. Jim told her to relax that he promises that nothing is wrong. Melinda told him then why are they all here Jim, she was starting to worry about what may happen. Jim felt her worrying and said I was gonna wait until after supper, but I will now to easy your mind babe. Jim got on one knee and took out the ring box, and asked Melinda Gordon will you marry me? Melinda eyes watered and said Yes that she would marry him. Jim placed the ring on her finger. They shared a kiss. She was engaged to someone that accepted her for who she was. Someone who accepted her gift, that did everything he could to help her. Melinda seen her grandmother and smiled at her. Maryann whispered in her ear, I told you dear that you would, find someone that understood you and that would accept her precious gift, She kissed her granddaughter cheek, making Melinda smile more. Jim asked her what is it, Melinda told him I will tell you later, not here with those that.. Jim told her say no more, I get it honey that they will talk later, that made Beth curious about what that was about. Beth asked to talk to Melinda on the side, Melinda asked Jim to order her a chicken salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Jim told her of course he will. Melinda asked her mom what is it. Beth asked what was that about, if she may ask that since he is gonna be her son in law. Melinda told Beth that she told Jim about her gift and that he understands, he accepts her for it, and don't think that she is crazy, that since he is a paramedic, he helps her the best he can by getting her the reports on things that she needs. And that he helps her with the research that she needs to get things taken care of with the ghost, there for her when they scare her, worry about her when she wakes up sweating, comforts her and just there for in general. That is what he meant by they will talk later because he knows I saw something, he recognized the signs of my reactions. Now can we please go back to the table and eat. They went back to the table and Melinda sat next to Jim. Meantime up in what is suppose to be heaven, Maryann, Dan and Aiden was looking down at their loved ones, I am guessing he couldn't get a hold of his mom, or didn't want her there since she didn't approve of them. Dan told his dad probably, but he does and he always had the feeling that Jim was gonna get involved with a ghost whisper. Making Aiden laugh about that comment. Maryann told them I always told my granddaughter that she will find someone that would understand her, love her for her and have no doubts in what she tells him. She didn't she found that in your brother Dan. I couldn't be more happier for them both. Something that is good for them both. They both needed each other, when no one really knew that they did. They all laughed and smiled about that, as they walked back into where they were suppose to go. Melinda felt that she was at home no matter Jim was. She knew that she couldn't wait to marry him. Someone that was her other half that, there no matter what. Someone that would help her carry her secret around, that she no longer had to hide from the world because, she had him right there with her in her corner no matter. When supper was done and everyone went there own ways for the night. Melinda and Jim celebrated just them, by making love. Jim told her that once she turned 18 and was in college that if she wanted they could get married, since she was going to a online one. Melinda told him that she loved that idea. Jim smiled at her and told her that they are gonna have the best life they can. Melinda told Jim that it was already that way for her, reason for it, is because she had him in her corner, someone that didn't judge her, didn't doubt her. And believes anything that she tells him. Jim told her that he loves her, and that loving her means to understand her no matter what. Asked who it was that she seen at the restaurant that he knows she seen and felt someone there. She told him that she felt her grandmother there, and that she heard her and felt her kiss her cheek. She told Melinda that she always knew that she would, find someone that would love her and accept her for her. Jim smiles and told her, well she is telling the truth Mel, because I am right here, and I promise you hear and now, I will never leave you, ever no matter, I will always be with you. I love you to much to ever leave you. Melinda smiles and tells Jim that she feels the same way about him. That she promises the same thing to him. Jim smiles at her and hold her close to him. They fell asleep holding each other. Both dreaming about what it will be like to be married to each other. One day have a family with each other. Jim knew that he wanted to give the house of her dreams, a place that was theirs, not something that was once his or hers, but theirs. He vowed that he would give her that no matter what he had to do. When she was busy working on her last assignments of the year, he was looking for places. During the weekend her English teacher went in for a unexcepted birth of a baby she, had no idea she was carrying. Mrs. Ocella had no idea that she was pregnant. So they needed to find a sub for her, they found one and her name was Eva Turner. Jim's ex fiancee, That was something that the school didn't know. When Melinda had went back after the three day weekend and found out that their teacher had a baby, she thought that was great. When it came to her class she, had a funny feeling about her teacher, when the end of the day came around, Delia and Andrea asked Melinda if she didn't think Jim would mind if they go over and hang out at time. Melinda told them no of course he wouldn't mind, he has his friend come over at times, why wouldn't he allow her to have hers there too. That made them smile. When Eva heard the name mentioned she asked, excuse me girls I don't mean to interrupt you but, but I couldn't help but over hear the name Jim mentioned, what is his last name. I once knew a Jim a long time ago. Before I became a model, but that didn't work out. Melinda looked at her suspiciously and says Clancy why. Eva tells her that she was once engaged to Jim and that, she would like to say hi to him. Melinda tells her that he is engaged to her now that, teacher or not she better back off. Eva tells her watch it missy she can have her expelled. Melinda told Delia and Andrea she will see her later. Melinda went home and seen that Jim was not there, so she went to the station. She seen Noah first and asked where Jim was, he told her that Jim was on a call with Bobbie, that she was free to go inside and wait for Jim to return. Melinda went inside and did her homework, when she heard the ambulance back up. She went out to the bay. Jim smiled and kissed her, she returned it. But he felt that she was curious on something. Jim tells the guys he will be right back. Jim looks at Melinda says walk with me honey. Melinda went with him and when they were out of ear shot, Jim asked her what was it. Something with a ghost thing that he could help her with. Melinda tells him no how about your, ex fiancee, Jim looks at her and ask what about her. Melinda ask him is it true that you were engaged once before. Jim looks down and back up at Melinda and tells her that it is true. But he is over her, why is she asking him this. Melinda tells Jim about Eva being one of the subs since her english teacher had a baby. She was bragging about how they were engaged. When she over heard her, Delia and Andrea talking about him. About them hanging out at their house. Jim told her, that they are welcome there anytime that they want to be. As far as Eva no worries that he is not interested in her anymore. That he has the woman that he loves and that he wants to marry. He kissed Melinda deep and passionately. Melinda had returned the kiss and told Jim that she has something else to tell him. That she is late, Jim asked how she took the morning after pill right after didn't she. Melinda tells him yes I did, so I don't know what is going on. Jim tells her don't worry that they will worry about it together. Jim kisses her tells her he will get a test for her on the way home. Melinda tells him that she was thinking about it herself. He tells her okay that he will see her in a couple of hours. Melinda kissed him and went to the pharmacy and got a pregnancy test. She took the test and waited she was really nervous about what it might say. When she looked at it because it was time. Jim was home, she asked what was wrong, Jim told her that he told the boss he had to go home, that his fiancee was sick. Melinda smiled at him and they looked at the test together. It showed that she was pregnant with his baby. Melinda looked ready to cry. Jim held her close to him, told her that everything will be okay, they figure out things as they go. They will get married soon after she graduates, with her dad consent, that they got this no matter. Melinda asked him if he was upset because of this. Jim told her no we did what we were suppose to after and it didn't work. That would be because the egg was already there when he came in her. That when she took the pill it was to late because the embryo was already attached to the uterus, They can handle this together, she is going to a online college so that part works out, we can have the baby with you when you get your own business together. We got it baby no worries, or we can see if your dad or Amelia will watch them. Melinda told him that she was worried though because they had just got engaged and she is no one where close to graduation yet. Jim told her Mel calm down we got this no matter what okay. And don't worry about your teacher don't let her get to you. She is my past your my present and future, nothing or no one can change that. Melinda asked even though I am not normal and our child may end up with my gift and won't be normal at all. Jim told her stop it that he will take that over being lied to and, cheated on any day of the week. Making Melinda smile. Jim smiled and kissed her softly and told her. Come on bedtime for you and our baby. You need to rest. Melinda nodded her head and let Jim take her to bed. He held her close to him. As they fell asleep.
