Chapter Three

Since the school had a three day weekend because they had a teacher workshop on Monday. The principal had called Jim and asked him if he wanted the position as a math teacher. The teacher that normally teaches the class had recently gotten sick with bronchitis and couldn't teach until further notice. Jim had said yes that he accepted the job. Melinda had taken the time off and was surprised that her mother had let her do that. When Melinda had returned to school. After being gone for a week. She is still upset about her grandmother's death. Andrea came up to Melinda while she was at her locker and told her that she is sorry that she lost her grandmother, she still has her and she loves and accepts her for who she is. Melinda slightly smiled and said thank you. I know that I have you, Delia and Charlie in my corner. So anything new. Andrea told her yeah , that they have a new math teacher, because the other was sick or something, And that the new teacher was pretty cute. Melinda just shrugged. When she did that Delia and Charlie came up to them and asked if they were going to hang out in the cafeteria. Melinda said no that she was going to go in her home room and study and that she promised her dad that she will still do good. Even though she lost her grandmother. Melinda closed her locker and went to go and study in her home room. When the bell rang she went to her first class. The day went by fast so it seemed like Melinda. It came to her Math class. Jim had told the class good afternoon., Handed out math papers to everyone. He had asked Melinda so you must be Melinda Gordon. Since you're the only one that wasn't around for awhile. Melinda told him yeah she was. Jim said it is good to meet you. I am Mr. Clancy. Melinda told him the same thing here. Melinda was the first one that was done with her work. Used that that time to study. Melinda was sometimes the geek because she was always studying when she could. Her friends Andrea, Delia and Charlie knew the truth though. Melinda only studied in between helping ghosts cross over into the light. But they were the only ones that knew any of that of the kids at school. Kyle had transferred out because he didn't want to be near Melinda anymore. So she didn't have to worry about him making her seem like a freak at all. Even though she felt like one after the way that he treated her. Melinda had told herself as well Delia, Charlie and Andrea that she was never gonna trust another guy with her. Her friends had told her that they don't blame her on that. When they were pretty much homework free with some subjects they, deiced to go hang out at the mall and do some shopping. Charlie was being smart and asked if Andrea or Melinda was ever gonna be with anyone ever. Melinda laughed and said only if I can mange to find someone that is okay with what I can do. That is not gonna think I am freaky, Or someone that is gonna make me feel like one. So far I have not found that person so for now I give up on all that thank you Mr. Noise. I don't know about Andrea. Andrea tells him that she has her eyes on someone but not sure if they are interested in her at all. That his name is Ashton Belluso and I really really like him but not sure if he does me. Charlie tells her that he is one of his friends that he can find out for her. Andrea tells him that she would like that. Charlie tells her that he will talk to him tomorrow at practice about her. Andrea tells him thank you. Melinda tells them that she is perfectly satisfied to be single. Charlie told her fair enough. Delia, Andrea and Melinda went into hot topic while Charlie waited outside. The girls talked about the fact that Melinda didn't want to be with anyone because she was worried. That the same thing with Kyle would happen. Delia told her Mel you can't be afraid of that forever. You don't want to be a spinster at all someone that never marries. Melinda told her if it stops me from being treated like a freak then I am perfectly satisfied with being just that. Andrea and Delia just shrugged and hoped that Melinda would give someone a chance again. The girls had finished their shopping and all went home. Melinda had seen a ghost and told them that she look more into it in the morning. Melinda couldn't wait until she was a adult so she can stay up and research this stuff, and didn't have to worry if she was late, because she was gonna own her own business. But for right now she has to be a good girl Since she was still in school and had to go college as well before any of that could happen. Melinda had hoped that by then that she would have someone that would understand her gift and that would support her in it. Do what they can guide her and help her the best of their knowledge and the best that they could. When Melinda fell asleep she had dreamed about her math teacher she had the biggest crush on Mr. Clancy. As did all the girls in the class. But Jim didn't know that any of the girls did at all. When Melinda's alarm went off she got up and took her shower and got dressed in pink and blue strapless bra and thongs, under blue jeans with pink tang top, long trench coat like sweater, pink boot heels, pink necklace and earrings. She did her hair and make up after and got something to eat before leaving for school. Melinda was a tide bit early so she sat in her car and studied for a while. Jim had noticed but didn't say much anything or do anything. When the time came to meet her friends she went to the gym lobby. Andrea asked how did she beat her. Melinda laughed and told her that she had her license remember. Andrea had laughed she forgot all about the fact that she did. They waited for Delia and Charlie. Charlie always drove him and Delia to school as well. They all went to their locks got what they needed until lunch. They hanged out for a while before the bell. When it did they went on with their classes until lunch. They switch out what they don't need. They ate lunch together and then went on with the day. The class everyone loved the most was Mr. Clancy because the math was at their levels and not hard like Mr. Bouche had done with them. It was like he didn't care about anything like Jim did. Melinda had went to her laptop to search what was needed to help the ghost out. Since she didn't have any homework at all. At least not much of it anyways. She went to see who the ghost had wanted to see and then she helped the ghost cross over. Melinda was happy about that part at least. That night when Melinda had went to get something to eat for supper. She seen that her parents divorce had went through. She cried herself to sleep that night. She knew no one would understand anything at all with her at that moment. Melinda just didn't want to deal with her mom that morning when she work up so she went to school in a yellow dress with yellow shoes. Left to school just to avoid seeing her mom that morning. She honestly wasn't ready to face her right now on that. When Jim had seen her that she was in her car again this time. He knocked on the car window making her jump. Melinda rolled her window down and told him. Mr. Clancy you scared me she laughed. Jim laughed and said I am sorry Melinda I didn't mean to make you jump. I just thought maybe you would want to come inside and study. You can use my classroom to study if you want to. Melinda told him thank that she appreciates that. They go in and Melinda studies until it is time to go and meet her friends. Jim sensed something was off about her and asked if she was okay. Melinda told him yes Mr. Clancy I am okay. Thank you for asking. Melinda went to hang out with Charlie, Delia and Andrea for awhile. They all talked about different things. Charlie had told Andrea that she talked to Ashton and that he does like her. Andrea blushed and asked if he could help them get together. Melinda told them that they are all love sick with cupid arrow. That she is glad she is not like that with anyone at all. Charlie laughed or I bet that by the end of the year, that you will be with someone again. Melinda laughed and told him yeah okay not gonna happen, but I will take your bet. I bet you 30 dollars it will not happen. Charlie told her that she is on. Delia and Andrea thought that they were both nuts agreeing to do that. Because they both thought that Melinda is gonna win this one. They know that she is not ready to date anyone just that. That knew of and that Melinda knew of right now. Melinda had been the last one to pack up that day. Once again Mr. Clancy asks her if she is sure that she is okay. She told him yeah that she is fine. That a lot is on her mind. But she is okay. Mr. Clancy says" if you ever need someone to talk to the door is always open for you to come talk to me." Melinda tells him thank you that she appreciates that. Melinda and went home and locked her door to do her homework. But what Mr. Clancy said was on her mind. She wondered why he cared so much, how did he know that something was bugging her. Then her mind slowly went to what her grandmother told her. She told herself no that can't be it is all in my head that is not why. He is my teacher and just want me to pass school. It is not that stop being so silly Melinda. But she still couldn't stop thinking about why. Melinda knew that she was dreaming about him and had a crush on him and all. But she knew that he couldn't even possible be asking because he has a crush on her as well. Melinda had once again fallen asleep and dreamed about Jim.
