Jungkook and y/n walked to the Kim mansion, but everything was silent. Jungkook looked around feeling confused, and he glanced at y/n, who sighed heavily, as if she were waiting for something to happen. This made Jungkook more silent as he remembered her warning: "You should be nervous because you're about to see another side of the Kim's today, one you've never even heard of. So, prepare yourself because you're not going to handle it. Trust me when I say this." He wasn't nervous, but he sneakily looked around, feeling a tad paranoid. He thought there was supposed to be a ritual here, why isn't anyone here?
Y/N looked at Jungkook, unable to hold back a teasing smirk. "Why are you looking around like that? Like my family has lured you here for some sort of sacrifice," she quipped. "They're all probably in the back of the—"
"You kids are late," a voice interrupted Y/N's sentence from behind them. Startled, they both turned around to see who had spoken.
Y/N smiled at the head maid, Jeena. "Sorry, Jeena mom," Y/N said, her tone apologetic. "We were caught up with things, and we didn't realize how quickly time flew by."
Jungkook looked at her with a puzzled expression, wondering what the hell she was saying. But maybe it was just him thinking something inappropriate. However, as he glanced at the woman who smiled cheekily at them, he was sure that she also interpreted Y/N's words the same way he did.
"Hello, Mr. Jeon. I'm Jeena, the head maid and caretaker of the Kim mansion," Jeena said to Jungkook, bowing respectfully.
Jungkook bowed respectfully to the woman in front of him. Even though Y/N didn't say anything, he understood the importance Jeena held in his wife's life, given that she called her 'mom.'
Jeena smiled warmly at the two people in front of her. "Everyone else is in the yard," she said. "So first, go and change. The dresses for both of you are placed in your room."
She continued, "I will be waiting for you two. Please don't be late; everyone is waiting for you both. Don't make your grandpa angry."
"Is he angry?" Y/N asked.
"No, but he will be, eventually, if you guys take more time to get ready," Jeena replied.
Y/N said, "Okay, just 15 minutes. I'll be ready," and walked towards the stairs, heading to her room.
Jungkook stood dumbfounded, unsure of what to do. He watched his wife walk away without even glancing back at him. Well, when did she ever, he thought. He then looked at Jeena, who was also looking at him with a slightly confused expression. She smiled warmly and gestured for him to follow Y/N. He smiled awkwardly and hurried after his wife.
He followed her through the veranda, passing by numerous rooms until she finally stopped and opened the last one. He walked to the room and knocked on the door but received no reply. Irritated, he sighed and opened the door, finding her staring at something with a frown on her face.
Curious, he stepped forward to see what she was looking at, and his expression mirrored hers. There were traditional outfits laid out for both of them.
They both sighed heavily, and, sensing each other's frustration, they looked at each other. They held each other's gaze longer than necessary until Y/N broke the silence. "You can use the washroom. After changing, go to the living room," she said, breaking the stare.
Jungkook didn't comment further and nodded before heading to the bathroom. After taking a quick shower, Jungkook emerged from the bathroom, towel wrapped around his waist, water droplets glistening on his toned body and in his hair. He looked around the room for his wife, intending to tell her the bathroom was free, but to his surprise, she wasn't there—only his dress lay on the bed.
He sighed heavily and dressed himself in the traditional attire. When he looked at himself in the mirror, he found the white and sky blue combination quite appealing. After settling his hair, he headed downstairs.
As he walked into the living room, he noticed Jeena standing there, patiently waiting for them. When she saw him, she smiled and commented, "You look really handsome. It's your sister who chose your outfit."
And his heart warmed at that. He really missed his sister, it had been a while since they had talked wholeheartedly. He hated the distance between them, she was his only family. Everyone else seemed to exist only peripherally in comparison. Even this marriage was for her happiness, and someday she would understand, he thought.
"Do you want something warm to drink?" Jeena asked, breaking him out of his thoughts.
"No, and thanks for the compliment," he replied, prompting a warm smile from her.
As he settled himself on the couch, waiting for Y/N, he occasionally glanced at the woman standing nearby. Sensing Jungkook's curiosity, Jeena decided to break the silence.
"Y/N is really a good kid, but not that easy to understand. She can be a little cold, a little rude, a little arrogant towards strangers or people who don't know her, but she's actually quite soft on the inside."
Jungkook listened attentively as Jeena spoke, unsure of what to say in response. Her words carried a weight of deep emotion that touched him.
"I never had a real family of my own, but after I started working here, it never occurred to me that I have no one. The people in this house, they never let me feel alone," Jeena continued, her voice tinged with nostalgia and gratitude.
A tear rolled down her cheek, which she quickly wiped away before continuing, "Y/N was the first one who called me 'mom'. I never asked her why she started calling me that. When she was just three years old, on Christmas evening, she came running to me and called me 'Jeena mom'. That moment is the most precious in my life—a moment I would relive again if given the chance."
Her voice softened with affection, "Afterwards, every other kid in the family started calling me 'mom'. I was more than grateful for each one. They're all precious to me, and I love them all as my own."
She wiped her tears and looked at Jungkook. "I know I'm no one to talk about your relationship, but please take good care of my Y/N," she said. Jungkook stood up from his seat and took Jeena's hand in his. "Believe it or not, you are the 7th person I'm promising that I will never hurt your Y/N, always take care of her, and never let a single scratch on her. I promise you that too."
Jeena smiled at that, but before she could say anything, someone else spoke from behind.
"Who are the other six people you promised that to?" Y/N said.
Jungkook smiled at her comment, glancing at Jeena. "Well, it's a secret between me and them," he replied, then turned towards where Y/N was standing. He found himself breathless, gazing at her in the hanbok that matched his in white and sky blue. She looked stunning 'beautiful' felt like an understatement, she was absolutely breathtaking. Her hair was so long, cascading elegantly down her back, and her lips were a perfect shade of pink. Every detail about her seemed perfect to him, and he couldn't help but feel a rush of emotions. His heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, he felt as though he had lost himself in her presence, completely mesmerized.
Jeena cleared her throat, pulling the two from their reverie. She observed them looking at each other with admiration, noting how Jungkook openly showed his fascination with Y/N's beauty. As for Y/N, Jeena shrugged, thinking she was pretending not to care and would take her time letting someone in. Little did she know, Y/N was keenly aware of her own feelings. Whatever she planned to do to Jungkook wouldn't just affect him, but also those who cared about them both.
