At 7 am in the standalone park, there were few people around, some walking and some exercising. In the middle of that crowd, a girl in her mid-twenties is standing with a cameraman. She is holding a microphone and looking at the camera, saying, "Kim's and Jeon's, the families which have been ruling our country using power and money, both of these families have been at each other's throats for more than a decade."
"It has been confirmed that both families set aside their differences and created an alliance with each other. Oh, not just one, but two alliances. Yes, viewers, both Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jisoo, and Jeon Jungkook and Kim Y/N. What do you think? Are they really putting aside their differences, or is this their new twisted game to play with us? We couldn't be sure about anything like that, but whatever it is, I hope the common people do not get hurt," she said, the last sentence directed at the girl wearing a black tracksuit and a T-shirt, whose appearance suggests she has just finished a long jog.
As soon as she stopped talking, the cameraman also turned off the camera. After turning off the camera, the cameraman said, "What the hell, Joy? That was a live broadcast!"
He continued, looking at the girl who just shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know about the Kims, but the Jeons? They're going to burn us alive. And whatever mess happens, you're the only one responsible. I'm leaving. And be ready to answer the questions from the chief." With that, he packed his bag and walked away.
"Wow, that was quite a show, Miss Journalist. Aren't you afraid of the consequences? People like you are needed in our society, who won't be afraid to say whatever they think is right," the same girl who was standing there just a moment ago said, her tone mocking.
Joy glared at the girl in front of her and, without saying anything, she grabbed her bag and started to walk away, ignoring the girl.
"Seriously, now you're ignoring me? Oh, come on, I even got you breaking news," the girl said as she walked behind Joy.
Joy stopped in her tracks and looked behind her, saying, "Why am I ignoring you? Are you serious, Y/N? When did we last talk?" Joy paused, observing Y/N's questioning gaze, while Y/N stood there as if she were a culprit.
Without getting any answers from Y/N, Joy continued frustratingly, "I'll tell you when. One year. One whole fucking year since we last talked, and suddenly you're married. Even better, married to a guy who is your family's arch enemy."
Y/N sighed and said, "Everything happened so fast, and everything was so messed up, and—" Joy cut her off, saying, "And you freaking forgot to tell me."
Y/N continued, "No, this marriage didn't matter to me. It's just a deal—" Joy interrupted again, saying, "What do you mean by a deal? Wait, is it about Taehyung and the Jeon girl? They've been quite a hot topic for the past few months."
"Kind of, but that doesn't matter anymore," Y/N replied. She hesitated for a moment and continued, "Thanks for the broadcast, by the way, for doing what I told you to."
All the curtains in the room are closed, so even though it's 8 in the morning, there is no light. The continuous ringing of the alarm fills the air, and Jungkook routinely hits the snooze button whenever it sounds. However, the sudden ringing of the phone jolts him from his deep slumber. Groaning without even glancing at the caller ID, he reaches for the phone, answers the call, and holds it to his ear. With a hint of annoyance, he threatens, "If this isn't urgent, you'll regret dialing my number. Consider yourself warned."
"Hello... I'm sorry... this is Kim Woo-bin, Y/N's dad. I'm sorry if I disturbed your sleep," Woo-bin exclaimed with a nervous laugh after hearing Jungkook's outburst.
As soon as the reality sank in and Jungkook identified the voice, he jolted up from his bed and nervously said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Kim, I mean Uncle, I mean Mr. Dad... Shit... I'm sorry, I was sleeping and I didn't check the caller ID when I took the call." Jungkook facepalmed himself for his stupidity. Hearing Jungkook, Woo-bin said, "Hey... It's okay... I'm the one who should be sorry for calling you early in the morning, son."
There followed an awkward silence from both sides, and Woo-bin continued, "Actually, I called you to invite you and Y/N to the Kim mansion. We are holding a ritual here this evening for the newlyweds, so you guys and Tae and Jisoo will be participating in the ritual." After pausing for a moment, Woo-bin continued, "So if you're not busy, can you..." Jungkook cut him off and said, "We will be there, Dad."
"Oh, thank you so much. Ah, and I haven't called Y/N yet, so you just tell her about it," Woo-bin said with relief evident in his voice.Jungkook replied quickly, "Sure, Dad. I'll let Y/N know. We'll be there this evening."Woo-bin expressed his gratitude again, "That's great to hear. Looking forward to seeing you both. Take care, son. And sorry once again for disturbing your sleep."
"No, it's okay, and you too take care," Jungkook said before hanging up the phone."Okay, that wasn't awkward at all," Jungkook thought to himself before getting up from the bed and heading to the bathroom for his morning routine.
Jungkook's upper body was bare, clad only in black joggers. Water droplets glistened on his skin as he stood before the mirror, deep in thought about what had transpired between him and Y/N the night before.
Previous day, after they arrived at their new home, Jungkook tried to break the silence by saying to Y/N, "In the upstairs left side room is supposed to be our shared room. But since you don't want to share a room with me, as per our agreement, you can choose any room in this house." He looked at Y/N with a teasing tone and continued, "Or we can just forget about our agreement and share the room." Stepping forward with a playful smirk, he added, "And the same bed." His hand hovered in the air as if he was about to touch her cheek, but Y/N just slapped it away and said, "Oh, trust me when I say, even if you were the last person on earth, you and I will never happen." Y/N's words held the same playful tone as Jungkook's, but there was no playfulness in her eyes. After that, she simply walked away from him.
As Jungkook looked at himself in the mirror, a smirk played on his face as he thought about Y/N. "A challenge," Jungkook thought to himself, his smirk widening into a wicked grin. Despite Y/N's resistance, he saw it as a delicious chance for domination. He hungered to dismantle her defenses, to wield her like a puppet on his strings. He plotted in his mind, devising schemes to make her bend to his will, to make her only his. The mere thought sent a thrill of dark excitement through him. Before the mirror, a twisted satisfaction consumed him, relishing the impending psychological torment he would unleash, reveling in the wicked game he was about to play.
