[13] Meeting

My heart started to beat faster. Before I could think any further, the doorbell rang and broke my thoughts.

That night was one to remember. It was the start of many things to come, the sowing of the seeds that would one day bloom beautifully under the spring sun yet would later lose leaves in the harshness of winter.

The date went well, we ate pizza, watched a movie and cuddled, painted together... oh, and Alastor liked the pizza! Though be said it wasn't the best and that he greatly prefers deer, he didn't mind it.

"Alastor listen, I'm sorry." Angel Dust said, "About, you know, making you mad I guess?" He looked over at Charlie and Husk for support. They gave him a small nod, Charlie's big eyes full of adoration and Husk wearing a proud semi-grin.

Alastor stared down at Angel, a sudden sense of darkness washing over the two as Alastor dangerously warned the spider demon not to do anything of the sort again. His body grew ferociously as his smile stretched in an uncanny distortion, pupils turning to dials and horns reaching out like heavy branches either side of the overlord's head.

In an instant, he returned to his former state, standing tall with a proud face, he put both his hands on his staff in front of him as Angel Dust got over the brief terror he just experienced.

"Now, if you'll excuse me..." Alastor opened his eyes, mouth in a wide but closed smile. "I have to skip out on this morning's trust exercise. I have an important overlord meeting and I must get ready."

Charlie turned to him, upset but understanding of the situation. "That's fine, Alastor. Actually I'll just move the exercise to later!"

And with that, Alastor made his way to the tower where the meeting was being held. An egg boi followed behind him, Carmilla has a tendency to not share important information with the other overlords - maybe he can gather information, just like what happened when the first angel was murdered in hell.

The meeting went overall smoothly, overlords talked about the ongoing problem of the crossover between hell and earth. Many questions were left unanswered, such as 'is this happening in hell too?'

Everyone agreed on the assumption that a normal demon appearing on earth would be the same (if not, similar) as the portal overlords can create. Except they were likely created by humans - it's unknown whether this is true or false.

From thereon, an overlord meeting was said to be held once every week on a Tuesday to discuss this issue and potentially work towards fixing it. This included by using Vox's demon-sighting channel where humans could report the demons to Vox. However, Vox couldn't bring the demons safely back to hell - the channel is a killing device, any demon reported there is murdered.

They needed a way of stopping demons being able to go to earth but to do that they first have to find out what is causing all of this.

I looked up at Alastor brightly as he turned around while the scentless red smoke thinned. His smile was sincere and content, he seemed genuinely glad to be here standing in my room.

"Good evening Y/N" He said politely as he extended his arms forwards a little. In the palm of his hands was a present wrapped in shiny yellow paper.

I gently took the gift, confused as to why he has given me one.
"There is no special occasion... not really, I just think it may be beneficial." Alastor watched me as I unwrapped it.

The present was an old-fashioned vintage looking radio. It had a few metal dials and antennas on top.

"With this I will be able to visit whenever, you won't have to summon me. It would be good use in an emergency." Alastor pointed to a button, "This one will signal me, then if you use the built-in microphone you can state why you want me to visit." He explained.

A wave of happiness flooded my body, I felt appreciated and cared for. Llyris only ever gave me gifts on my birthday.. it was the same each year - a small bouquet of blue and yellow flowers. Not that I don't appreciate them, they just don't last long... well I appreciate Llyris' efforts but I do have a slight phobia of plants and flowers....
My mind seemed to babble on, wondering elsewhere. I hadn't noticed Alastor trying to get my attention.

"...Y/n?" He said with uncertainty. He waved his staff in front of my face trying to break me out of my thoughts. He composed himself and stood upright, before leaning down to my face.

"Oh! Sorry..." I apologised, "I got distracted by my thoughts.... Thanks for the present, I love it!" I grinned, feeling ecstatic.

He didn't say a word, instead he pressed his lips to mine, a warm and gentle kiss full of subtle passion. He pulled away, staring lovingly down at me with a closed-mouth smile.

Then his smile faded. "I'm worried about you, Y/n."
I looked at him, puzzled. "Why?"
"Because.." he hesitated.
"I really love you... more than anything or anyone. I am certain." He confessed. It was apparent before, though never spoken of out loud.
My cheeks seemed to flush and he continued to speak.
"But I'm Alastor, the radio demon... an overlord. I'm powerful and there are many demons who wish for the second death of me. I can't let anyone hurt you, Y/n... but I don't want to give up on us." His voice sounded solemn behind his static-filled radio filter.

Though it was saddening, hearing how much he cared for me made my heart flutter. All I wanted was him. I wanted to be with him, forever.

But he's a demon... and I'm just a mere human. He's already dead and I've still got my whole life ahead of me..

But I love him.
