I took it gently and put it where I had stored Astro's money. "Back to the drinks I need.."

I didn't know what to think. Llyris is dead... I felt my tears wash away under the water from the shower. I took a deep breath before turning off the shower and getting out, changing into some new clothes.

I walked out into my own bedroom, where Astro was still sleeping in my bed with a sleep mask covering their eyes. Walking over to the window, through the small gap between the curtains I saw a bright, cloudless blue sky. I stared for a moment before opening the curtains and then putting my clothes from last night in the laundry room next door to my bedroom.

The sweet smell of fresh waffles filled the air and I walked out of the laundry room, turning to my room but not entering as I again saw that radio demon that I loved so much standing before my desk. I felt my body relax, only to tense up again as I remembered Astro was asleep in there. Worried, I beckoned him out into the hallway and he glanced at Astro on the bed before making his way towards me.

I took his unoccupied hand and pulled him into the bathroom, locking the door.

"Y/n? I came over last night but you weren't here, sorry if I arrived at the wrong time." Alastor spoke, his voice quiet and aware of my friend asleep in my bed.

"No, it's okay.. me and Astro, my friend who's asleep in my bedroom, went out to the club. We got pretty drunk but nothing really happened.. another friend drove us back here. Pretty sure that she is downstairs making breakfast." I smiled up at him.

Alastor sat on the edge of the bath, his staff lying across his lap as he sighed. "Did you see Angel Dust? He went to a club as well apparently... he was talking about it, also mentioning some girl pole dancing who he'd never seen before."
"Never seen before?"
"He frequents there a lot, knows most people that go there."
Uh... was that pole dancing girl me or..

I took a deep breath before hearing footsteps coming from outside on the stairs. My eyes shot open, even though I knew it was Opal, one of my closest friends.

But the footsteps sounded off. They sounded heavier, they sounded slower and I felt my body shudder as they got louder.. and louder, closer and closer...

Alastor's ears pricked uncomfortably, spiking up as his mouth widened into a menacing smile. I noticed his horns start to shake as he stood up, his pupils dilating and body tensing.

"Alastor.." I asked, my legs starting to shake.
"That's not Opal.. is it" I said, an icy ripple struck through my body as it felt as though my organs had just fallen out.

Goosebumps shot up my limbs as Alastor forcing the door open, breaking the lock. Alastor held back from using most of his power and only tensed himself as to make him seem slightly more intimidating.

My expression warped into one of horror as I watched him disintegrate, something was wrong. I peeked out of the bathroom to make sure there was nothing there before quickly walking into my bedroom.

Cracked green-grey scales ran down it's face, running down under the loose button up shirt messily tucked into some faded, ripped up trousers. Pitch black slits sat in large but defined piercing yellow eyes while a long pointing tail thrashed threateningly behind a thin figure.

"Care to explain what you were doing...?" Alastor questioned the uninvited demon who seemed to tremble as it locked gazes with Alastor.

I looked over to my left wide-eyed, Astro was stirring in their sleep and there hadn't been enough time for the demon to do anything diabolical.

I ran to their side, letting out a breath I had been holding in as Alastor murdered the intruder in an instant and I held Astro's hand.

Then, a faint burning smell filled the room. I shuddered - the sweet smell of homemade waffles had been overtook.
Opal...

I let go of Astro's hand and rushed down stairs, where the smell became more pungent. I immediately flicked the switch off, not bearing to look anywhere else before doing so.

As I turned around, I prepared for the worst and I'm glad I did. My heart pounded faster at the sight of the shattered glass door. My eyed began to water and I brought my hand up to my face seeing my friend's body lying motionless and bloody on the floor.

Before I could move, Astro ran to her side. I watched as they kneeled down next to the body, Opal's body, holding her blood-stained hand tightly to their chest.

Heavy tears streamed down their face as they desperately checked for a pulse. My legs dragged me over, despite my mind not wanting to believe what's happening.

I knelt at her other side, feeling a pain hit my chest like an invisible thorn cutting deep inside of me. I looked at her face, mine contorted into a look of disbelief as I felt her cheek lightly. My finger was bloody as I pulled away and covered my mouth.

Then the body flinched slightly, before her hand gripped onto Astro's.

My eyes widened and I looked back in the hallway, Alastor appeared with my phone in his hand and I ran to grab it. Hurriedly, I dialled emergency services for an ambulance.

I was put through to the ambulance service, splurted out my address and left my phone on the counter as I removed tiny shards of glass embedded in Opal's once flawless skin.

Opal was carried out to the ambulance, by this time Alastor had disappeared as to not be seen and I comforted Astro in the back of the ambulance.

The ambulance started to move as the paramedics did what they could in the moment, loud sirens rang in my ears as I tightly held onto Astro who was a sobbing mess.
