Chapter 19: Sleeptalk

[Kuroshiro's POV]

I sprinted off, exiting the school as fast as possible.

"Faster."

I ran and ran and ran. I didn't even stop to rest or catch my breath. If Medusa gets pissed, she'll hurt (y/n)... She'll hurt my precious weapon. She'll hurt my world, my peaceful light, my everything.

I quickly turned as soon as I reached the forbidden part, and tripped down as I landed right in front Medusa. I did my best to breath, enjoying the ground as my legs rested from the long, quick sprint, sweat running down all over my face.

"Good." Medusa sat in front of me, and grinned in a dark way, grabbing a handful of my hair and forcing my head up. I hissed, and looked up at her, still panting.

"...What... What is it..."

I stuttered out, slowly sitting up and slapping her hand away. Medusa laughed, and used one of her snake tattooes to pick me up like I was a sack of useless trash, and placed me near what seemed like a drawing of a... Witch-y circle. I looked down at it.

"...What's this ?"

I asked, but she didn't respond. Instead, she summoned her vector blade, and grabbed my arm, the snake keeping me from struggling. "H-hey ! My ar--"

I gasped and screamed in pain, feeling a long, deep cut starting from my wrist to the other end of my arm. Medusa laughed. "Good boy !"

I teared up, shakily turning to watch. Black blood dribbled down from the large, deep cut, making their way in the middle of the circle. I was losing lots of blood...

My eyes were getting blurry, but before Medusa gave me rest, she made the snake put me down. "Go back. That's all."

I weakly nodded. Damn, my head felt like it's being hammered to pieces. My arm burns... The blood... Just...

Then, all I knew was--I fell down hard to the ground. Everything was really blurry... The circle glowed, and a kishin egg rose from it. A kishin egg...? I don't know... My head ached too much to even let me think.

Then, darkness took over me.

[Kid's POV]

When Stein left, I quickly stood up and ran.

That orb... That had witch essence !

Was he lying to us ? Was he spying ? Backstabbing us, betraying us ? What was with that orb ? Why does he have an orb like that ?

"Where did he go..." I muttered, and looked around, sensing for his soul wavelength.

As soon as I knew where it is, I summoned Beelzebub and used it to fly to the location. As I neared the location, I sensed a witch's wavelength. A familiar witch wavelength.

"No... Medusa ?!"

As I flew down, the wavelength suddenly... Disappeared...

"Where the hell did it go ?!" I jumped off and landed on my feet at the concrete ground, and looked around. Medusa's wavelength was just gone ! I don't know where it went...

But fine, let's let that go. There's another important thing.

I turned, and saw Kuroshiro on the ground, passed out and pale. His arm was bleeding... Black blood.

Wait, he has black blood ?

I ran over to him, and gently held him up. Damn... He's really pale and thin... What happened ? Is he even eating ? Or is he sick ?

He whimpered under my touch. Yeesh. I ripped cloth from both of my sleeves (SYMMETRY MATTERS) and quickly tied it to his arm, tying as tight as I can.

"...(y/n)..."

I blinked, and turned to him. He still has his eyes closed, his eyebrows knitted together in pain. I sighed. He looked really pitiful...

I adjusted his glasses, and gently picked him up.

"(y/n)..."

Ooh, there he went again. He whispered her name again.

I started walking, but then... The next words startled me.

"...I love you.."

I stopped, and turned to him, seeing he was still asleep. Yeah... Sure, he loves her. That wasn't new, it was pretty obvious. But that wasn't what startled me.

"...I love you.. And I'm... Sorry f-for... Betra...ying... You..."

Were my suspicions right ?
