Chapter 24: Sick

"Day two."

"Kuroshiro ? Oy, it's time for school ! Wake up !"

You knocked on your meister's door, holding a spatula with your other hand. You were cooking eggs and bacon, nothing that much, but... Well, you hope it'd help him.

For some reason, even though it's not obvious... You seem to notice Kuroshiro's change. It's just a little change, but... You notice it.

Something's wrong with him. It's obvious. There are times where he'd sometimes silently stare at the wall. And he seemed to be jumpy and nervous...

"Ugh... Coming..." You heard your meister groan, which made you sigh.

And he doesn't wake up the usual time like before.

He usually wakes up waaaay more earlier than you. His excuse is "I wanna watch Spongebob !" And, well, you just got used to his whines and groans when you force him to stop watching take a shower already.

But his change... It's odd. He suddenly just... Turned into that. That silent person who smiles a lot. He's supposed to be the loud-mouthed 3 year old.. Not this.

The door finally opened, pulling you out of your trance. Kuroshiro soon stepped out, his glasses tilted and his eyes stating he's still half asleep, judging it's dull color. His hair was a mess, and his shirt was filled with messy foldmarks.

"Aish. You're going to be late for school !" You scolded, placing your free hand on his head and fixing his hair. Kuroshiro only stood still, watching you as he yawned loudly, everything still slowly sinking in his mind.

"Go get dressed, you sleepyhead. And be quick !" You said sternly, sighing as you fixed his glasses. Kuroshiro didn't move. He just stared at you with drowsy eyes, closing them and slowly opening them again, his shoulders dropped as his pajamas hang loosely on his body.

"...How cute..."

You thought, before blushing and turning away.

"...Bah."

You blinked, feeling weight on your shoulder. "...Wha--" You muttered in surprise, before turning your head and saw him... Well... Saw his head on your shoulder, actually. His chin fitted over your shoulder perfectly as he sleepily placed his arms around you, pulling you to a tight hug. You blushed darkly, trying to move (since your arms were squeezed between his arms, too). "K-kuroshi---"

"...Cold..." He mumbled, before whining slightly and hugging you tighter, with him nuzzling his face into your neck... Tickling you and giving you slight shivers.

"...Cold...?"

You looked confused, but then, you felt extreme heat from the side where Kuroshiro was leaning against. Your eyes grew wide in realization.

"...Kuroshiro, are you okay ?" You struggled your arm out of his hold and placed a hand on his neck, before quickly taking it back because of the great heat you felt. "K-kuroshiro, you're burning from a fever !" You said in a panicked tone, but Kuroshiro only stood still.

"Kuroshiro ? Hey ! Kuroshiro !"

"...I'm..."

Your panic got worse when Kuroshiro's arms started to lose grip, and slowly dropped downwards.

"...Sorry..." He whispered, and slowly closed his eyes, losing his consciousness. You gasped as he almost fell to the ground, with you trying to catch him and failing miserably by falling with him. "K-kuroshiro, what's wrong ?!" You groaned, pulling yourself out under him, and looked around with heavy pants.

"T-tch..."

"What happened to him ?"

Blackstar asked, looking at Kuroshiro with an eyebrow raised. You sighed deeply, shaking your head. "I don't know... I-i... I woke him up for school and he just... He said sorry, and collapsed... I don't know what he meant, though..."

"Sorry ?" Blackstar thought, crossing his arms. "...Hmm... Why did he collapse ?"

"No idea..." You mumbled, sighing.

Actually, after that, you panicked and grabbed your phone to get help. And since, well, Blackstar was the first name you saw in your contacts, you called him immediately.

Now, you three are absent for school, with Kuroshiro laying on his bed (Blackstar carried him) and a blanket over him, along with a wet towel on his forehead. He was sleeping peacefully, but his face was red and he was still stuck in a fever.

"Well... When I get sick, Tsubaki always asks me three things; One, if I skipped any meal time. Two, if I got soaked by rain. Three, if I was thinking of lots of things." Blackstar took a seat next to you, and sighed. "So... Has he been eating...?"

"I cooked breakfast for him... But he didn't get to eat it because he fainted before he even did."

"It didn't rain yesterday so that's a no..." You sighed, frowning as you took the towel from Kurosiro's forehead, soaked the towel in a basin of cold water. Then, you squeezed the water off, before placing it back on his head again.

"Maybe he's stressing over things ?" Blackstar asked with a shrug. "...Did you notice changes from him ?"

"...Yes." You looked downwards. "...He's acting odd... Usually, he'd wake up early to watch cartoons and such but these past few weeks... He wakes up late---he's much more quiet than usual. And i... I'm bothered..."

"Mhmm... Well... All we have to do right now is to wait for him to wake up, and ask him if something's wrong. Now, stop worrying, okay ? The mighty Blackstar is here to guide you with my spotlight and my godliness !" Blackstar stated with a grin, standing up and proudly placing his arms on his waists. You only laughed slightly, and nodded. "Alri---"

But then, you both heard his stomach grumble...

"......So... Do you have food ?" Blackstar asked awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. "I kind of... Rushed off here when you called me and... Well..." You stared at him, and laughed.

"You idiot."

Woohoo update~! :D I'm happy to say that I'm getting more motivated into writing this story and my other book 2 (Remember Us ?) :> So... I guess I should say that you can expect updates that wouldn't have MONTHS of gaps between them. :D
