"Let's pick a mission ! (y/n)-chan, I promised to give you souls, right ?"

You smiled, nodding at your meister. "Yes."

"Alright ! I choose this !" Kuroshiro took one from the board, and grinned at you. "Let's go, (y/n)-chan !"

"So… Why did you pick this ?" You asked, your face flashing from the katana blade as Kuroshiro calmly spun you around with one hand.

"Nothing. Aside from it's easy, I wanted to finish this quickly and give you another. I said two, right ?"

"Well… Yeah… But one would be enough." You shrugged, making Kuroshirh laugh. "Nah. I'll give you two souls."

Out of the sudden, the kishin attacked. You turned, gasping. "Enemy attacking fro—"

Kuroshiro narrowed his eyes, spinning you in his hand. He took his glasses off, and grinned widely, turning around together with a swift slice.

The kishin blocked, using a large hammer to do so. Kuroshiro jumped back, doing cartwheels before stopping at a mere distance. "A hammer, huh." He smirked.

"…Kuroshiro… It has a blade as well, resting from a case behind it's back. The sharpness of that blade, according to it's thin appearance, can slice that large debree hammer in a second." You looked up at him. "Please be careful."

"Sharp eyes. Thank you." He held you back and tossed you, aiming at the kishin's head. It blocked, of course, getting your weapon form stuck in the hammer. As the kishin slowly removed the hammer from in front of him, it looked for it's target.

Not realizing how Kuroshiro was right in front of him.

"Gotcha !"

He swiftly grabbed your handle and yanked you off of the hammer. The kishin was caught in shock. Kuroshiro grinned darkly, before raising the blade, stabbing the kishin's chest. It made a pained growl, but it didn't last long as Kuroshiro sliced upwards.

The body deformed, and wrapped around, turning to a kishin soul. Kuroshiro landed on the ground in a crouching position.

"Yay ! Good job ! He didn't even had the chance to take his blade out !" You cheered. Kuroshiro smiled at you, tossing you near the soul. "Enjoy."

You turned back to your human form, taking the soul with a giggle.

Kuroshiro watched you with a smile, taking his glasses and wearing it back on.

Suddenly, he felt a light tug on his soul… He didn't know what it was. But it was giving him small pains..

Kuroshiro leaned against a tree, watching you. He was starting to feel his breathing patterns go crazy. He was getting confused—what's wrong ?

"Kuroshiro ! Let's go !" You smiled. Kuroshiro looked at you, and sighed. "Y-yeah… I'm tired… Can… Can we finish the other tomorrow…"

"Sure thing." You patted his head, and walked ahead. "Let's report at home, okay ?"

"Y-yeah…"

Kuroshiro trembled, the pain slowly strengthening. He shoved his other hand in his pocket, his head down as he clutched his chest. He did his best to walk, but it felt like it just worsened the pain…

He was wearing his glasses, yes, but his sight was slowly going blurry. He stopped walking, and did his best to stay awake, biting his lip.

"That soul was good ! Say, Kuroshiro-kun, what would you like for dinner ?" You smiled, turning to him. You blinked, and saw him standing still, making you furrow your eyebrows. "…Kuroshiro…? Are you okay…?"

"Y-yeah… I'm fine…" Kuroshiro mumbled. You went to him, worried. "Are you su—"

You gasped as Kuroshiro closed his eyes, fainting as sweat running down from his head. He suddenly fell over, making you catch him.

"Kuroshiro !"

Stein stared at the student in front of him. He made a sigh, cranking the screw in his head and twisting it.

"Kuroshiro Tarinai… A pretty interesting student…"

He thought, leaning against the other bed, which was empty. Kuroshiro was still asleep, laying on the bed in the infirmary room. He already sent you home, taking note that it was already midnight.

"Who knew you had black blood ?"

He made a small cackle. From the minute you brought him here, Stein already sensed the weird wavelength coming from him. An aura of violet, mixed by green… His soul color was messed up. It wasn't like that before… Even yesterday. He even managed to spar with Maka.

He noticed the sealed blood kind behind his soul. But he didn't tell anyone, knowing he sealed it for a reason. He took his glasses off, and stared at his mere student's soul

Light green… With a small violet. A snake-like thing coiled around it. For soul perception ranges like Maka's, it's invisble, but not for him. The snake-like thing was tugging on his soul. It's first mission can be freeing the black blood. The second, is to make him give in..

That'd be bad news. Kuroshiro's insane fighting skills would make this work faster. He can remove the snake, but it would damage his soul. It'd be too risky. For now, there's still nothing he can do. He can't tell you either, knowing you would freak out and look for the snake witch—Medusa.

Stein sighed, adjusting his glasses.

"Oh well, time for researching."
