Julien Baker One-Shots

Birthday Surprise

Julien was on tour with Lucy and Phoebe at the moment and it was quite hard. Sure, the two of you guys had done long distance and had gotten through it before, but it didn't make it any easier.

It was close to Juliens birthday, and she was going to be on tour at that time. You guys had planned to do something special when she got home.

Or so, she thought you guys weren't doing anything until after she got back.

"Are you guys sure this is going to work?" You asked Phoebe and Lucy as you guys talked on the phone.

The two nodded in agreement.

"Of course we're sure Y/n, she's going to be really happy to see you." Lucy said with a soft smile.

"I swear the only thing that comes out of her mouth is Y/n this, Y/n that." Phoebe jokes, though she was being serious.

You laughed softly at Phoebe's comment and nodded.

"My flight leaves early tomorrow morning. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep."

"I can never sleep on planes." Lucy says with a sigh.

"I can." Phoebe says.

Lucy rolls her eyes. "That's because you can sleep anywhere genius."

Phoebe scoffs but then shrugs. "Actually, you are right on that."

"I know." Lucy stuck her tongue out at Phoebe playfully.

You laughed softly at their banter. Julien's friends were your friends as well and they would do anything for you. You were incredibly thankful to have them helping you out with this surprise. Being apart from Julien was probably one of the hardest things in the world.

When you woke up to your alarm the next morning, it was pretty early. You hadn't slept much last night, too excited for this day. Thankfully you were able to get a little bit of sleep on the 3-hour plane ride. Time went by quick, and you were soon landing.

Pretty soon, you were greeted by Lucy and Phoebe.

"It's good to see you." Lucy said with a smile as she hugged you first.

You smiled as you hugged her back before moving to hug Phoebe.

"Long time no see." Phoebe says with a grin as you hugged her.

You laughed softly at her comment.

"So how did you guys distract Jules this morning?" You asked, looking between the two of them.

"She's actually been in a little writing zone lately, so it wasn't hard." Lucy said, Phoebe nodding in agreement.

"She's definitely working on something." Phoebe said.

You nodded. You knew Julien was working on some new music, though she was keeping some of it a surprise. Usually when she was getting close with some new stuff, she would share it with you. The two of you would sit in the living room with candles on and let it play through the speakers. It was always a special event.

As you rode in the car with them, you stared out the window. Your heart racing with excitement as you anticipated seeing your lover.

Once getting to the hotel, Phoebe and Lucy had you hang out in the hotel room they were staying in. You and Julien would have your own space later on, but this was just where you would be for the time being.

Later that day, it was show time. You managed not to run into Julien at all that day, though you did cut it close a few times.

Once the three on them were on stage, you watched from backstage, getting your own private view.

You danced and sang throughout the show, smiling as you watched them perform. It wasn't until they started singing Ketchum, ID when Julien's eyes finally met yours.

You could see her try to hide the small blush that appeared on her face as she smiled at you. She continued the song, occasionally stealing glances at you. Once the show finally ended, you were excited to finally be with her again.

"Baby!" She said as she ran towards you, engulfing you in a hug.

You laughed softly as she hugged her back. She smiled and leaned in to give you a sweet kiss.

"Hey love." You said softly.

She smiled as she tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.

"God, this is the best birthday gift ever." Julien said with a grin.

You laughed softly.

Later that night, you guys hung out as you celebrated Julien's birthday.

"Can I do what Julien did to me?" Phoebe asked as she stood by the cake.

Julien rolled her eyes. "Don't you dare."

Lucy shook her head with amusement. "Children."

You laughed softly, remembering how Julien had shoved Phoebes cake into her face, forget to take the candles out after she had blown them out.

"You guys are no fun." Phoebe said with a pout.

Julien stuck her tongue out as she laid her head on your shoulder.

"Thank you, guys, for the best birthday. This was really special."

You smiled as she leaned in to give Julien a soft kiss.

"No problem babe. You deserve the world."
