We got through the fence without meeting any resistance. We soon reached the choke point and hit trouble.
"We must have triggered a silent alarm. Steve?" Bucky asked his friend hopefully to bring order to the sudden chaos.
"Stick to the plan!" He commanded as the first round of Hydra soldier reached for their weaponry. "Liz, can you still get to the skylight?"
"Piece of cake." I replied, "allons-y." I flew to the roof and keeping my telekinesis reaching for anyone who might attack, I didn't dare use telepathy here seen as they perfected the serum to block it for Pyro. I also used telekinesis to bring Bucky to the roof safely as he continued to shoot HYDRA agents.
"Same again?" I asked nodded towards the 8ft gap between the buildings.
"Nah I'll jump, you cover me?" He moved back to get a fair run up as he spoke. He made the jump look easy. He executed a forward roll as he landed. "I got you." He shouted. I opened my wings stood on the edge and jumped I landed easily on the ledge of the next building with a single flap of my wings.
We leaned carefully over the skylight one of us from each side,
"Clear," he said.
"Clear but I've got medical instruments laid on one of the tables beside a steel bed."
"Your plan, what now?" Bucky asked and looked at me. Before I could answer the whole building shook. I dived across the skylight taking Bucky with me almost to the edge of the building, as a Venus fly trap sprouted where he was previously standing. "Thanks."
"You're welcome," I said standing and brushing myself off. Bucky pulled a knife from his vest as he got up. He was about to cut the head off which was now at twice his height. "Stop!" I shouted coming to my senses. The plant ceased moving and retreated. Jumping down through the hole Bucky finally spoke,
"Was that your doing or just good timing?"
"Just good timing I'm afraid. I just know that if you had hurt that plant Fern would have felt the pain and as it was so out of control I'm guessing she's weak enough already." I whispered in return.
"And her plant told you that?" He asked sceptically as we made are way through the deserted hall headed in the direction of the higher concentration of plants.
"Sort of, when you depend on someone in battle you get to know when they're weak or strong. I'm sure you and Steve are the same." As we fell into silence Bucky covered behind me and I was charged with any threats ahead.
As we progressed I heard many gasps of wonder from behind me as we passed tiger lilies on endless ribbons of stems and leaves either side of the corridor in every gap between concrete and metal their vivid colors; oranges, yellows and greens, brightening what I can only imagine was a dismal prison. Intertwined between them were smaller less vicious Venus fly traps and red roses protected by sharp thorns dripping with venom.
"Don't touch those," I warned.
"Wasn't planning on it." All of a sudden the plants shrivelled and died.
"Uh oh." Was all I managed to say before they came back with a vengeance. I threw a telekinetic force field around us just in time.
Running headlong into the Fern made jungle of plants we nearly bumped into a patrol of guards. They at first didn't know what to make of us; a girl with mass tattoos and wings alongside the Winter Soldier.
