...And The Secret Annex.

(☀️)

Well, it has been some time since we hid down here. Although I don't keep track of how many days it has been, I know that there have been many, and to me it has seemed eternal.

It's a little strange how we ended up here...
But at least what it was about was that we were safe. And here we are.

To get an idea of what the place was like, GraciousGoat gave us some sort of map.

I like to call this site "The Secret Annex". It's huge, and although it's a bit cold, they've turned it into a pretty cozy hideaway.
It is only accessed through trapdoors in one of the Rejected Critters' empty rooms, as well as in the supply room of that hideout.
The hatches are protected by a double lock, and SnarkShark sometimes covers one of them with heavy boxes, usually the one in the supply room.
To go down, a metal ladder is used. One goes down, takes a little jump...and "voilà"!

Once downstairs, there is a small hallway, which I like to call "the landing", with a high step that you have to be careful when going up or down because your head can hit the frame, which gives access to the first room.
It is quite spacious, it has a stove, some sinks and a few boxes together with a huge plank on top as a table. Other boxes and some improvised stools are used as chairs.
They have a small refrigerator where they keep the most delicate foods. The rest are in boxes and on shelves.
That was the kitchen, the dining room, and at night it becomes Kickin and Bobby's bedroom.

The next room is like an improvised medical bay, with iron beds and worn mattresses. They had some medicines and supplies for healing. Despite the advantages of the beds, no one likes to sleep there, as it is a somewhat cold room.
Next to this there was a small room, which has been converted into a kind of pantry. It has a metal ladder, and above it, a high floor, like a big shelf with a worn mattress. That was SnarkShark's bedroom, the only one with his own bedroom.

Returning to the dining room, a door led to a short hallway with three rooms; one was a large room that served both as a warehouse and as Lucky, Hoppy and my bedroom; another room with an old desk and an old TV and radio, which would also be Crafty, Peace and GraciousGoat's bedroom. And the third room was a bathroom, with a sink and a closed toilet, but no shower.
In the desk room there was a glass door hidden by a metal panel. That door leads to a long, winding hallway that led to another ladder. There you could go out again, this time to the Rejected Critters' supply room.

And here ends the description of our secret annex!

At first, we had a lot of problems adapting to the place. We got lost, we asked every now and then where this was, where that was. The first few days we had colossal bumps on our foreheads from hitting the landing door's frame. But now we have fixed it with a soft support to cushion the blows, and for this we have had to sacrifice some blankets.

But over time we adapted to the place, and its rules.

There were only a few rules, many of them related to noise; Do not make a lot of noise when walking, speak softly, do not move around the room much unless it is strictly necessary, respect the night schedule, do not turn on the lights or let the water run at night...

That was our only condition for staying, along with courtesy and cordiality.

We tried to help the three who welcomed us as much as possible, especially to make improvements, build things and organize the supplies. We had to organize some things and build some improvised things with the wood from the warehouse. Except for a couple of hammer blows on the fingers, everything went as planned!
