Jennie was the first to spot Yaya who was the one to get them from the airport. It was two days after Christmas, and they had been flying back to LA.
The morning after Christmas they had all visited Georgie in the hospital. She looked exhausted but very happy as did Gavin. The doctor even allowed little-Daniel to be brought to his mother for a short while. He seemed quite healthy although he was of course premature. He was to spend two more weeks in the hospital, but there was no danger for him, it was just to be on the safe side.
The whole family had tried to convince Lisa and Jennie to stay longer, but Lisa thought it wasn't right for her to leave the agency to Yaya and Nadech once more. There was work waiting for them. Nadech had called already and told her that they had a new case. A teenager boy was missing from his home and the parents had hired the agency to find him.
Jennie and Lisa had spent the afternoon of their last day in New York with shopping, well actually Jennie had wanted to do that, and her fiancée had of course given in. Who was she to deny her a wish. Especially after Lisa had been given her heart's desire with Jennie accepting her proposal. That this was her heart's wish too wasn't really important. Ever since she'd said yes Lisa was on cloud nine.
"Hi Yaya," Jennie greeted the brunette who smiled at them. Jennie couldn't put her finger on it but there was something different with her friend. There was a certain gloom in her eyes that hadn't been there when they left.
"Jennie, Lisa," she greeted back and hugged the couple. "How was New York? Cold I guess," she laughed.
"It was wonderful," Jennie said dreamily. "Unbelievable actually," she added with a glance at her fiancée.
Yaya looked back and forth between the two of them and tilted her head: "Did something happen in New York?"
"My sister had her baby," Lisa replied. "It was earlier than expected. It's a boy and his name is Daniel"
"Oh god," the brunette's eyes were wide. "I have to call her later."
"She's still at the hospital though," Jennie told her. "They had to do an operation to get the baby. But both are well."
"I see. Anything else?" Yaya asked while she opened the trunk of her car.
"Could it be that you're a little bit nosy?" Lisa teased while she was loading the bags into the car.
"Me? No way!"
"Yes way," Jennie grinned. "But I don't mind." She looked at Lisa with an unspoken question in her eyes. When she saw her nod with a smile, she extended her left hand and held it in front of Yaya's face
"What?" the brunette said confused and then her eyes almost popped out of her head: "Almighty god," she breathed. "Is this what I think it is."
"Yes. Lisa asked me to marry her," Jennie beamed. "God it was so romantic, but before I could answer her question her sister went into labour. So, my answer came with a bit of delay."
Wrapping an arm around her waist Lisa looked at Yaya: "Now, Mrs. Kugimiya. Won't you say anything?"
"What?" Yaya snapped out of her daze. "Oh sorry. Congratulations," she smiled at them. "It's just ... well, I guess it wasn't really that unexpected. The way you almost eat her up with your eyes. I've got some news as well."
Bingo, Jennie thought. This was the reason for the change she had noticed.
"I'm pregnant," Yaya blurted out and blushed a little bit. "I just found out. Nadech is almost out of his mind. The last days he called almost everyone he knows to tell them the news," she smiled.
