Lisa was nervous and almost burned a part of their dinner, and she felt butterflies in her stomach when the doorbell finally rang. Taking a deep breath, she headed for the door to open it. What she saw took her breath away. Jennie had never looked so beautiful; in fact, she couldn't remember ever having seen something like her tonight.
Jennie smiled at her. She looked gorgeous in her black pants and the dark green shirt. "Hi," she greeted her.
"Hi," she breathed, still not fully master of her voice.
"Hi, I'm Mark," a young man beside Jennie said. Lisa hadn't noticed him so far.
"Lisa," she introduced herself.
Mark grinned: "I just wanted to see that Jennie's safe with you." he leaned over to Jennie: "Have a nice evening. But I really can't see what's so special about her."
"Mark!" she exclaimed. "Thanks for bringing me."
"You're welcome. Have a nice time." With this, he turned and disappeared in the elevator.
Lisa cleared her throat: "Uh, why don't you just come in?" she invited her.
She smiled and entered her apartment: "It smells wonderful. What are you cooking?"
"It's a surprise," Lisa replied, smiling as well. "You're so beautiful," she complimented her.
"Thank you, mom had planned to give me the dress for Christmas, but she thought this evening would be more appropriate."
Lisa stepped closer and encircled her waist with her arms: "Remind me to thank her."
"I will," she rose on her toes and met her lips in a sweet kiss. "I missed you," Jennie whispered in her ear.
Lisa smiled: "It was only three hours."
"Too long." She pulled back a little. "It looks wonderful," she pointed towards the table where Lisa had everything ready for them. she'd lit up two candles as well.
"Are you hungry?" she asked.
"Hmmm, very and the more so when this smell is tickling my nose."
"Sit down, Milady," Lisa bowed like a servant. She nodded as ladylike as possible, and she helped her in her chair. "First course is coming soon."
With this, she disappeared in the kitchen but was back only a minute later with two plates. They held avocado salad with crevettes and joghurtdressing. Her eyes widened: "Where did you learn to cook? The Riz?"
Lisa laughed and took her seat opposite to Jennie: "My mother loved to cook and as she had no hopes, I'd ever marry she thought it would be a good thing to teach me how to prepare a proper meal."
"Why?" she asked while she tasted the salad: "Oh my god, that tastes delicious."
Lisa beamed: "Thanks. Why what?"
"Why didn't she think you'd ever marry?"
Lisa rolled her eyes: "I was ... well, pretty wild. Had a new girlfriend every week. It wasn't anything serious. Actually, I was very shy, and we never did more than kissing, but they all ran after me in high school."
Jennie grinned: "I can not imagine why."
"Me neither," she replied honestly. "In high school, I was certainly nothing a girl could find attractive, but I had a brother who was the captain of our high school football team."
"You have a brother?"
"Yeah. Graham. He's two years older than me. He and his wife live in Sidney. He works for a computer company," she sighed. "They have two children, Sam and Sheila. That's my mother's name."
