[Y]ou climbed the narrow staircase to your apartment, the fluorescent lights flickering overhead as you held a plastic bag containing a pack of hot and spicy shrimp-flavoured instant ramen in one hand, while scrolling through your phone with the other.

The building was old, with peeling paint and a faint smell of mildew. When you reached the door, with the six in the number '306' barely hanging on, you juggled your items briefly to unlock it, then stepped inside. "I'm home," you announced, assuming your roommate was home, still engrossed in your phone. You kicked your shoes off at the entrance, never lifting your eyes from the screen as you slipped into your house slippers.

"Y/nn! You're back!" Sayuri's voice echoed from the small living room. She rushed over, a flurry of energy in a tight, short black dress, her hands busy putting on a pair of hoop earrings.

You glanced up at the girl, your expression indifferent as you took in her dolled-up appearance. "Someone's got a date," you remarked, moving to the fridge to put away a few items you'd picked up along with your ramen.

Sayuri rolled her eyes before tucking her hair behind her ears after successfully getting both earrings through. "Not just a date, silly. We're going clubbing at the Black Cat! Drinks, boys, the usual Friday night mischief after a long week of services," she giggled. "You should come with us for once, you know. You can't only leave the apartment to go buy instant ramen or when you have a customer."

You stared at her bluntly while you pulled a can of monster from the fridge, cracking it open with a practised ease. "It was the last one on the shelf, and I'll pass on the STI's, thanks."
