Saturday, October 7th

Normally I would be sleeping in, but since I had promised to help Kayla out with her case, Grace and I planned to meet up at the library to discuss tactics. I pulled on some nice clothes and went into the common area for breakfast. It was empty this morning for a change, which was nice because usually I would be barraged with questions from Amanda and Jared in between their makeouts. I tended to avoid common areas where I could to prevent this, though I knew it only came from a place of caring. They were like two embarrassing parents.

I arrived at the public library and saw Grace sitting with Kayla and Lucy. It made sense to me now why Grace insisted we go to our town's library and not the school one since Kayla was with us. If we were going to be creating a case in her favour it would be better that she be around to help out and provide her own accounts, especially as I wasn't there for the beginning of it.

I sat down next to Grace, she sat in the middle, Lucy shrunk into herself behind Kayla. "So what's our plan?" Kayla asked.

"The plan is, Y/N and I have to write up a 3000-word appeal in your favour and give our accounts of what happened." Answered Grace, "Now that I think about it, Y/N missing the first half of the encounter might not look good for us." I nodded, Grace was awash in thought, and Kayla seemed to be scheming.

"We could twist the truth? It's two against 1!" Kayla suggested.

Grace looked at Kayla and frowned disapprovingly, "That's not a good idea, we would be risking our own validity and maybe even get in trouble ourselves. I'm sure they would take the word of a professor over the words of 20 students." Grace scolded Kayla in the way you would break harsh news to a small child. "Why don't you let me and Y/N handle this? You and Lucy go enjoy your weekend."

Lucy seemed pleased at this idea and she grabbed Kayla by the arm. Kayla sat firmly until Lucy planted a soft kiss on her cheek and she melted, "Okay, I trust you two." Kayla agreed, really who she trusted was Lucy, and if Lucy thought us to be fit to handle the situation alone then we were okay in Kayla's eyes.

The two of them stood up with their hands intertwined at the fingers and walked out of the library, leaving Grace and me to ourselves. "Now what's our actual plan?" I asked Grace.

Grace sighed and rubbed her temples with her fingers in frustration, "Attacking a teacher isn't good, it's best we don't fight that part and instead focus on the good Kayla has done for the school. We will appeal to her personality."

We planned out our statements, splitting the 3000 words into 1500 written by each of us which made it much more manageable. Grace helped me out with the structuring, I wasn't as familiar with writing that wasn't storytelling so appeals were definitely not my strong suit. We worked alongside each other typing away at our laptops until we had written something solid. Then we swapped over our documents and wrote edits and comments on each other's appeals, this refers too closely to her attempted attack leave it out, don't include that she was restrained, mention that she founded Lunch Club . The appeals were written up and finished by midday, and we were getting hungry. We both sent off our finished writings off to Kayla and Lucy for them to approve of, then decided to go out ourselves and enjoy our Saturday.

We walked through town in search of a spot to get some lunch for cheap, the back alleys were the best places, the further out of town you got the cheaper things started to cost.

"We present our poem on Tuesday, do you feel ready to present it?" I asked Grace, she had written a very sentimental piece, hidden under layers and layers of metaphors, but regardless, another group would be dissecting it, and handing over such emotionally vulnerable writing couldn't feel easy.
