The Uninhabited Island; Class D's Base Camp
Upon returning to Class D, we found our classmates all moving around and working alongside each other. They were gathering more branches for us to use for the bonfire later on, and they were preparing the fish and corn we collected. Apparently, they also found a couple bunches of bananas while we were away.
"Oh!" Noticing us, Tsukamoto immediately ran over to us. "H-Horikita, there you are! Where were you?"
"I was following footprints with Furukawa-kun. Did Kasai-kun not tell you anything?"
"N-No. He told me that you two were gone, but he didn't say anything about it. N-nevermind that! Furukawa!" Tsukamoto grabbed Furukawa and pulled him off to the side, far away from me. He was whispering something to him and as I stared at them talking to each other, I saw Tsukamoto's face change. He seemed a bit upset. He finally lets go of Furukawa and he coughs.
"Ahem! W-Well, we were just getting breakfast ready. Wanna go eat, Horikita?"
"That's fine. I was just about to head over there to check on things anyways." I turned around and walked towards the class.
"W-Wait!"
Furukawa
Before Tsukamoto could say another word, Horikita had already gone off on her own, leaving us behind. Frustrated at this, Tsukamoto grunted and clenched his fists.
"Dammit!" he shouted. "Well whatever. I guess I'll just have to do it again next time!" Even though his attempts had failed, he was clearly determined to get closer to her.
I didn't have much knowledge about love and couldn't understand any of it. Love is a mysterious emotion. I suppose having feelings for someone can bring much motivation and emotion for oneself.
"Hey, Furukawa, how do you get so close to her while I can't?" Tsukamoto asked.
Close? I thought. I can't recall any moments where Horikita and I were close. The two of us were alongside each other only because we were working together. Aside from that, she usually keeps her distance from me and everyone else.
I shrugged. "I don't know. I can't understand it myself." Walking past him, I went towards the rest of the class to get some breakfast. Tsukamoto followed behind after he vented out his anger.

Not too long after eating breakfast, we heard footsteps coming from the woods and turned to see a group of three students arriving at the edge of our base camp. Among them, there I saw Seong Ji-Young from Class B.
"This is..."
I walked over to their group. "It's nice to meet you here, Seong-san."
"Horikita-san? This must be Class D's base camp then," she said. "I apologize if we stepped over any boundaries your class had. We were just wandering around the island looking for any untaken spots."
I shook my head. "It's fine. Now that you're here, I actually want to talk to you about something."
"What is it?"
"The alliance between Class D and Class B. Will it be alright for us to form a cooperative relationship with you during this exam?"
After the trial between Tsukamoto and Class C, Hasegawa offered us a chance to form an alliance between our two classes. I accepted his offer and we became allies. Now I'm here asking for their assistance, hoping our classes could work together to pass this exam.
