Suzune
In a large room with a black circular table in the middle, I along with a few other people sat around it. To my right, Katsuragi Kohei sat with his arms crossed and his eyes closed. To my left, Ryuen Kakeru sat with his arms over the chair along with Ibuki, who sat with her legs crossed.
"Everyone, thank you for coming."
We were all at the base of operations for Aletheia. As the founder and leader, I gathered the three of them here for a meeting between members of the government organization.
"The last time we were here, I had given each of you a job. I would like to hear your reports. Ryuen-kun, Ibuki-san, tell me what you've found."
"We did as you asked, "said Ryuen. "Using the information you gave us, we followed their trails. We managed to find them and apprehend them, but there are still a few people we need to find and check."
"Sakayanagi, Amasawa, Kanzaki, Ishigami, and that man, Tsukishiro Tokinari," said Ibuki. "Four of them I'm sure we can go ahead and talk to, but we can't seem to find anything about that last guy. I'd say he's hiding somewhere right now like the coward he is ."
"I see. Thank you for what you've done so far." I turned to my right. "What about you, Katsuragi-kun?"
"We've already investigated the White Room generations from 1st to 3rd. None of the former students nor their families seem to have stayed connected since they left the White Room. As for the other generations, we're still currently investigating them at the moment. We've already spoken to a few of them, but there's still more we need to talk to." Katsuragi gave me a piece of paper that had a list of names. Some of them were crossed out while others were still there.
4th Generation:
Tsubaki Yuki
... Shiro
...
5th Generation:
Amasawa Ichika
Yagami Takuya
...
I recognized a few of the names on the list of White Room students. It's been many years since I've last seen them. Sooner or later, we'll meet again and hopefully we'll learn more about the project from them.
"Thank you Katsuragi-kun. Please update me on what you find next," I said, handing him back the list.
*knock* *knock*
"Come in." The door opens and I look to see my brother enter the room. "Do you need something, Nii-san?"
He shook his head. "I want to talk to you in private, Suzune."
"Horikita, is that all you wanted to hear from us?" asked Katsuragi.
"Yes. You may leave." Katsuragi, along with Ibuki and Ryuen, stood up from their seats and left the room, closing the door behind them.
"What did you come in here for?" I asked.
Rather than replying, he stared at me with a stern look on his face. "How much sleep have you gotten?" he asked.
"Hm?"
"You've been working for multiple days and multiple nights for many hours. I hardly see you taking any time to rest."
"I'm fine," I said. "I've had plenty of rest."
"Have you?"
As siblings, I understood how much he was worried about me. I didn't want him to feel like I was a burden. However, I couldn't fool my brother no matter how much I tried.
"...Three to four hours every night. That's how much I sleep and that's enough for me." My brother sighed and walked over to me.
"I understand how much this mission means to you. However, it is exactly because of this mission that you're not taking care of yourself properly." He turned to look at me. "How long will you hold onto him?"
"..."
My brother placed his hand on my shoulder. "Rest for now, Suzune." He turned around and walked away, opening the door and leaving the room.
"..." I let out a sigh and looked down. I held my hands together over my forehead and closed my eyes. "...I'll keep moving forward...and I'll make sure to take care of the White Room..."
