The Uninhabited Island; Class D's Base Camp

It was now the third day of the special exam on the uninhabited island. The other day, Shirogawa had retired from our class and returned to the ship. Due to his retirement, our class was deducted Points and everyone was in shambles.

"Dammit!" Tsukamoto punched a tree out of anger.

"T-Tsukamoto, try to calm down, will you?" said Kawasaki.

"Yeah man. We know you're angry and all, but we can't do anything about it," said Azuma.

"Yeah, I know..." Tsukamoto started walking around, trying to let off steam.

Off to the side, Kasai was surrounded by the girls in our class. They were all talking to him, complaining about their problems and Shirogawa's retirement.

"What do we do, Kasai-kun?!"

"Come on, you must know something!"

"E-Everyone, I understand what you're all trying to say, but please calm down for a moment..." said Kasai.

I stared at all of my classmates from afar, shaking my head and letting out a sigh. I had expected something bad to happen along the way, but not like this. When this exam started, I had a plan in mind. I wanted to bring our entire class together so we could save as many Points and pass this special exam. However, after all that's happened, I see no point in using this plan anymore.

Karuizawa came next to me and looked at our class. "It's surprising, isn't it? Almost everything is turning up the same way as what our parents went through."

"It is..."

"What do you plan to do now, Horikita-san?" Karuizawa asked.

I placed my hand to my chin. "...I don't know. We still have quite a lot of Points, but seeing how our classmates are, I doubt we'll have many left at the end. Claiming and reclaiming spots won't give us much. We may have to end up guessing the other classes' leaders in order to gain Points."

Speaking of classes, we still needed to find out who that spy was. It was obviously someone else outside of Class D, and the most likely culprit is Class C. After all, their trail of footprints were near their base camp. But if it was, then who was it?

It was likely someone who worked under Bushida. He was the Class Representative and most of the entire class followed him. It made sense if he was the one who planned to send spies to each class to look at our bases and figure out the leader. As for Ryuen, it's not impossible, but highly unlikely. Unlike Bushida, she had few allies. I can't imagine her doing something like this.

"Horikita-san," said Kasai.

"What is it?"

"We have a situation. We're low on fish and there doesn't seem to be many fish left in the river. As for the corn and bananas, it's sufficient for now, but we may end up running low."

' "I see. The other day, I made an agreement with Class B where we would trade some of our supplies with theirs. I want a group of students to head to their base camp to pick it up. As for the rest, I want everyone to start forming groups to gather more food."

"I understand." Kasai left and began forming the groups together.

"Do you want me to go with them?" Karuizawa asked.

I nodded. "I want you to keep an eye on everyone, especially the girls and Kasai. They may get distracted or get into trouble along the way." Karuizawa nodded and left to join with the others. Once their groups were formed, they each left the camp, going in separate directions for their scout.

I found a nearby rock and sat down. I closed my eyes and took a moment to quietly process my thoughts to form new plans. This was our third day of the exam, meaning that there were four days remaining. We still had plenty of Points, but there were high chances we could lose them, either us using them or the other classes guessing our leader.

Kasai and the others were out to gather more resources and food at the moment, and if they're successful, we won't have to use any of our Points. As for our current equipment and tools, I'd say we'll be fine as is. We already have everything we need to cook food and navigate through the island. For comfort, the only problem we have is the heat. Perhaps we should grab our empty water bottles and fill them with water and sprinkle it around the area to cool it down like Class B. For the bonfire, we had enough branches, but we were running out of matches and we may need to buy another box.

"Horikita." I opened my eyes and looked to see Furukawa standing in front of me.

"What is it?"

"I have a plan to deal with our spy," he said. "I need to buy some items to set it up."

"Set it up?" I repeated. "What exactly are you going to do?"

"During our first night here on this island, the spy found our base camp and started watching us. If I'm right, they'll likely come back tonight as well to gather more information. If we want to catch them, all we need is a trap."

I stared at him for a moment, then sighed. "I'm planning on buying more items for our class, so just tell me what you need."

"Thank you."
