The Cruise Ship; My Room

After retiring from the exam on the sixth day, I was brought back to my room on the cruise ship. I was lying down on my bed, resting and continuing to recover from my sickness. By morning time, I sat up from my bed and turned on the T.V in front of me. On the screen, the teachers announced the results of the exam and heard that Class D won first place. I let out a sigh, relieved and glad that it all worked out in the end.

I grabbed the medicinal syrup off the desk beside me and gulped it down. Next, I grabbed a thermometer and checked my temperature. It seems like I was getting better.

Everyone should be coming back now. I thought to myself. Seeing that I was getting closer to my healthier state, I stood up and grabbed some clothes from my wardrobe. Putting them on, I walked out of my room and headed to the deck to meet them.

The Cruise Ship; the Deck

Upon arriving, I saw a large crowd of students who returned from the uninhabited island. Among them, I saw Karuizawa, Kasai, and everyone else from my class.

"Oh, there's Horikita-san!" Seeing me, all of them rushed over and surrounded me.

"Everyone..." I bowed. "I apologize. I retired at the end and-"

"There's no need to say sorry," said Kasai. "Furukawa-san told us all about the situation, so we understand."

"He did?" Kasai and everyone else nodded.

"Besides, although you retired, we managed to get something good in the end, right, everyone?" said Kurino.

"Right!"

Rather than feeling upset, they all saw the good that came out of my decision to retire. This was my idea and I planned to take responsibility for all of it, but it seems like there's no need to do that.

"Oh~? Looks like you're all back." Hearing that familiar voice, all of us turned and looked to see Shirogawa with his swimming clothes and a towel.

"Shirogawa!" Tsukamoto shouted and went towards him. "You freakin' idiot! Your retirement cost us 30 Points, you know that?!"

"Horikita-girl retired as well, but you're mad at me? It sounds like I'm being criticized."

"Of course you are! You retired because you were 'sick' and here you are being so full of energy! You damn liar!"

While Tsukamoto was arguing with Shirogawa, everyone else returned to the way they were. They started talking about their experiences and their struggles to their friends, smiling and laughing with each other. However, among them, I saw one person who was missing. I looked around and there in the distance, I saw Furukawa standing away from all of us. He stared at me for a moment before turning around and leaving.

As I was about to go over there and follow him, my phone vibrated. I grabbed it from my pocket and opened it. On my screen, I saw a message sent from Matsubara-sensei, asking me to meet her a few levels down. Meeting Furukawa will have to wait.
