Andrew and Akko were at the coffee shop. While Akko was still somewhat disappointed, she wasn't overly devastated anymore.
"I'll take a medium black coffee and a..." Andrew began to order.
"A caramel macchiato with extra caramel drizzle...", she began to immediately cheer up.
"Thank you! It'll be out in a sec!", the waiter said.
"Thanks a lot for this. It's been a super exhausting day!", Akko said.
"It's no problem. I needed this too," Andrew replied as he put away his credit card.
As the two were sitting down at the table, Akko shot quick glances around the room. She gave an accusatory glance directly into Andrew. His eyes filled with shock.
"Why are you looking at me like that for?", he asked defensively.
"How did you know..." Akko quickly scoped the entire room looking for potential eavesdroppers. "... about Diana?", she whispered on.
"Why are you looking around the room? The place is pretty loud, so I don't think anyone would hear-", Andrew was cut off by Akko.
"Answer the question, Andrew!", demanded Akko.
"Well...", Andrew trailed off. "Diana will kill me if I say any hints to that phone call, but honestly I didn't even need that phone call to know". He cleared is throat to continue on, "I didn't know you kept it a secret from anyone- besides Diana".
"No way! It totally isn't that obvious!", she became defensive.
"I don't think any normal 'I-only-like-you-as-a-friend' look like a sad puppy when she leaves the room," snickered Andrew.
"One black coffee and a caramel macchiato with extra caramel drizzle", the waiter stopped by the table.
"Thanks!", replied both of them.
Akko waited for the waiter to go before continuing on. Despite the freshly hot cup, she held a firm grasp around the cup. Her thumbs fidgeted as she tried to formulate a reply to Andrew. "Was it truly that obvious?", she thought.
"So, I guess that means you're taking her as your date to the ball?", Andrew said.
"Yeah... but I have no idea how to ask," Akko said. "It has to be perfect."
"Hmmm... I mean... Diana wants someone who wants to be fully honest and not beat around the bush," he hesitated. Andrew wanted to encourage Akko, but not give anything away. He took a sip of coffee as he reminisced on Diana's childhood suitors.
There were lots of guys who were totally crushing on her. "Diana, will you please be my girlfriend?", they'd say, but Diana always came back with a hard, "No,". Sometimes, kids would make each other ask her out on a dare. She would get even colder with her responses, "Absolutely not! What makes you think I would like someone like you?". Andrew laughed at any of his friends that would ask him about Diana. "Don't do it," is all he would advise them. Of course, that wouldn't work- they'd get their hears inevitably broken. "Things have changed...", Andrew thought to himself. "I can't believe that she found someone after all these years."
"What are you up to, Andrew?", Akko interjected the few minutes of silence.
"Ah, it's nothing," he said as he looked at the time. "Oh, I think I have to go soon."
"Well, thanks for the drinks!", she replied.
"Yeah, it's no problem," Andrew said as he got up from his chair. "One more thing, Akko..."
Akko drew focused back in to Andrew. "I think you'll be fine," he said.
"Thanks," Akko replied. In all honesty, Akko fully zoned out for a few minutes. She forgot what "You know those games go on and off for sale. I will definitely find that game under $200."
"I meant about Di-... Yeah, I bet you could haggle something nowadays," Andrew chuckled.
"Thanks for the coffee!", Akko said as she walked off.
Later that evening, Akko returned to her dorm. Her eyes became heavy. Caffeine actually made Akko more tired. The only things that fully have an effect on her are Sucy's concoctions. When she went inside her room, she immediately face-planted on to her bed.
"Hey, Akko! Where were you?", Lotte asked.
"I tried to find that Shiny Chariot game with Andrew, but it was already sold!", she mumbled into the pillow.
"That kids game you went on about for a week?", chuckled Sucy.
"Yeah...", Akko was too tired to defend herself. "I guess it wasn't, since I went to got coffee. I think I'm going to sleep..."
"Well, you should know Diana stopped by. She is so totally into you!", Sucy teased.
"Shut up!", Akko half-heartily yelled. She suspected that Sucy was most likely messing with her. "Sucy is probably playing a trick to embarrass me!".
"Yeah, she did stop by. She said come when you-", Lotte was cut off.
Akko sprinted out the door.
