"I really hope that Sucy and Lotte weren't lying!". It would be common for Sucy to lie for entertainment, but Lotte wasn't that type of person. She would usually feel bad for Sucy's teasing. Either way she sprinted down the through the hallway, drifting like a Mario Kart cart. "My heart is totally racing right now," Akko thought to herself. "It's totally not because I went halfway across hallways in two minutes!". She knocked on the door. On the other side, she heard Hannah and Barbra call for Diana.
"Hey, Diana. I think Akko is at the door," Hannah called.
"Right, I'll get it," Diana's voice was dampened by the door.
Akko felt her feelings intensify. "Maybe I should start running more. No way my heart is racing after running through the corridors!". Akko lied to herself. She knew why she was so nervous. Her thoughts were interjected by the twist of the door knob. "Alright, Akko! Just stay coooooool..."
"Heyyy, DiaNA!", Akko's voice cracked.
"Akko, I'm glad you're here. I need to show you something!", greeted Diana.
Diana reached for Akko's hands, which were always warm. She always tried to find an excuse for reaching towards Akko's hand. This was a subtle attempt of grabbing Akko's attention, but it wasn't always effective. Akko would unknowingly look away or accidentally pull her hand away.
"Shit, my hand is probably super sweaty. I can't just let go though!", Akko's nervous thoughts raced through her mind. "It seems like she always grabs my hand when I'm super nervous or something!".
"I got this while I was out today," Diana opened up a box. "You said you wanted it. I know you really like this sort of stuff..."
"WAS THAT YOU?", Akko yelled. "You were the one that bought it?"
"Yes...", she faintly replied.
"Diana, I can't believe it...", Akko's eyes lit up. She leaned towards Diana, leaving her in a flustered mess.
"It was totally nothing! You said this game was super rare so I had to get my hands on it...", Diana leaned back, somewhat nervous.
"I can't believe you paid that much!", Akko jumped forward.
"I swear. It's okay Akko! You really liked the game and uhhh I wanted to t-", Diana could even finish the sentence. This was to ask Akko to the ball, but she was definitely getting cold feet. However, Akko interjected before Diana could say anything else.
"Diana, you got scammed so fucking hard," Akko laughed.
"Huh?", she eased up from confusion. "What are you talking about? The man at the counter said this was a 'once-in-a-lifetime-kind-of-deal'!" she quoted.
"Oh, yeah. That guy sucks. He's like GameGo in human form. Don't ever believe him!", Akko said.
"I guess that makes sense. I really don't know much- or anything really- related to video games," Diana chuckled.
"So, when do we get to play? I think I'm free next-", Akko rambled on.
"How about right now?", Diana held out the controller.
Akko leaned into Diana. Retaining composure, Diana didn't inch away. She was not going to let her nerves get in the way of her chances with the girl of her dreams.
She whispered to her, "Isn't modern technology forbidden? Why would you do something-"
"Let's keep that our secret," Diana's finger grazed Akko's lips.
Akko gently lowered Diana's hand. She totally disregarded any nervousness related to her sweaty hands. Akko's grip remained firm, yet gentle. Diana's touch would usually make Akko freeze up, but she wasn't thinking thoughts right now. Her eyes remained locked on Diana's.
"How did you even find a power source?", she asked.
"Constanze lent it to me," Diana's fingers began to intertwine with Akko's.
"Oh, wow! I had Constanze f-f-... seen Constanze. Today. I saw her too," Akko rambled on. She almost gave away her own secret. "I'll start up the game right now!".
Akko ripped her hand from Diana's grasp just as she was going to tell her. "I wanted her to hold my hand a little bit longer..."
Playing the game...
"How do I fight it?", Diana exclaimed as she was fighting a monstrous beast in the game.
"Alright..." Akko leaned against Diana. "Press L for the spells and A for physical attacks. For perrying, you press R, but you have to time it to the perfect hit. It also won't work every time. Try maintaining a distance, while using your spells use down physicals after jumping to get a critical strike combo"
"I have no idea what any of those things mean," she said. Shiny Chariot's health was nearing the yellow area.
"Hold on...", Akko's hands were on Diana's. Akko immediately started spamming all the spells and would use the physical attacks during the recovery period.
"You're really good at this... How did you do that? I thought you didn't have the game", Diana asked.
"Well, I watched hours upon hours of gameplay. It made me feel like I was playing the game. So, I have a good amount of knowledge on the game mechanics...",
Diana had no idea what Akko meant, but she was adored her rambles. After a few hours of playing, the coffee caught up to Akko. She fell asleep while farming in the game. Diana turned off the console.
"Akko?", she called out. Akko was out cold. "I'm not going to wake her up," she smiled. Diana picked up Akko as she carried her to her dorm.
She knocked on the door as she got Akko's keys out of her pocket.
Sucy and Lotte directed their attention to Diana. All of them knew in awkward silence. Diana left without saying a word.
"I can't believe she carried Akko all the way over here! She should've just woken her up or something!", Lotte exclaimed as Diana was out the door.
"You know I totally would've", Sucy was referring to her most recent concoction.
"Do you think..." Lotte's voice faded into a soft decrescendo. "She... or at least one of them said something?".
"Probably not. Akko totally gets cold and is honestly pretty oblivious. Diana could totally be like, "Oh, Akko! I want you!" and Akko wouldn't get the hint right in front of her!" Sucy used a poor imitation of Diana's voice in between bursts of laughter.
"Oh, come on. Akko can't be that blind... Can she?", Lotte questioned. "Actually, you might be right..."
Notes:
I might post some filler with the Diana and Akko gaming.
After this, I plan to make a Diakko AU so stay tuned for that!
I think Akko would main Kirby or one of the Earthbound kids. Diana would main one of the magic characters like Zelda maybe (?).
I don't really know what type of game that the Shiny Chariot game would be analogous to in the real world.
I hate the video game market so much. Why are you selling a ps5 for $1000??? Any normal place has the average price as $449 or $499. It's not even a limited edition or anything. I also see people selling used for almost the same as market price. Who do you think you are? Unless, this is owned by Caseoh, why are you selling it for more than the market value??? That's a little bit of an off topic rant. Thanks for reading!
