"You shouldn't have come"

"Well, I'm here now. And I'm not leaving, you know that. Unlike you, I haven't changed" my gaze fixed on him, almost like a subtle attack.

His look turned almost threatening before he swung the door wide open. I walked past him and into the house. I stood there, upright, and after he closed the door, he came to stand in front of me, crossing his arms.

"I'm listening" he said abruptly, and after I took a deep breath, I spoke.

"Don't you think it's time we stopped being stubborn?"

"Stubborn?"

"No matter what happened, are you for real? You act like you don't know me, and it's driving me crazy!"

"Are you done?" his gaze utterly indifferent.

"God damn it, what's wrong with you?!" I shouted without getting a response. Just a cold stare.

He wouldn't speak and it drove me crazy.

I felt like provoking him maybe could get him to say something.

"What's up? You turned 18, became an adult and you're a tough guy now?"

His look grew fiercer, but he said nothing.

"And you were mad at Soto, remember?" I continued, "You said you would never betray me. What are you doing now?!"

He continued to stare at me without speaking.

"I don't even deserve an answer, huh?"

"What do you want, damn it??"

"To tell me why you're treating me like this!"

Complete silence. I managed to create tension, but I couldn't get a word out of his mouth. At least, not the ones I wanted.

"You don't even care, right?... But you had the audacity to tell me I wasn't okay!"

"Cut it out"

He wasn't himself. He wasn't the same person I knew. He changed.

"While I was trying to understand why you were avoiding me, you were having your fun as if nothing mattered!"

"I said, knock it off!" he slammed me against the wall, his hand landing dangerously close to my face.

I felt his hot breath on my neck.

"Or else?..."

He looked at me with a gaze full of hatred and took a deep breath before speaking.

"Leave... before I run out of patience"

He's not the one I loved...

He walked away from me and I remained with my back against the wall.

"I was wrong after all" I said to myself as he had his back turned.

"I made a promise to myself and I kept it. I tried... I was wrong" These words managed to make him turn his face to look at me.

"About what?"

"You'll never know... The same way I won't either" our gazes locked.

"I won't bother you again, I promise. I hope you find what you're looking for. And be happy again... Because now you're not" my voice was calm but from the expression on my face, it was evident how sad I felt.
