Lilies and Lullabies

III. Stars.

Being friends with someone who knows you even before you ‘knew’ each other is pretty chaotic. Parang hindi totoo kung iisipin. Who would believe it anyway, right? Paano ka nga naman makikilala ng isang tao bago pa kayo magkakilala, hindi ba? 

Meeting Dane Silas is such a blessing, I won't deny that I'm thankful for his presence. He made things bearable at least. 

“Naalala mo ‘yong pinsan ni Liam?” Mira asked.

She's still clueless that I've known Silas for months now. I don't know but I want that to be a secret, not because I was ashamed… but because it feels like private property due to the most vulnerable moments I shared with a stranger. Wouldn't it be weird if I felt comfortable venting out to a stranger instead of my friend?

And not just that… he could relate to me, kaya siguro pareho kaming kumportable dahil halos pareho kami ng pinagdadaanan. Silas is also a guy with a lot of troubles, the reason why he kept visiting that beach is because it reminds him of his mother who already passed away. He's not on good terms with his father, only his twin brother supports him and his passion for music. He was also abused, kaya siguro alam kong hindi lalabas ang lahat ng sinasabi ko sa kanya dahil pareho kaming magaling magtago pero nakahanap ng taong magiging sandalan. 

“Bakit?” tanong ko. 

“He transferred, dito na raw mag-aaral. Sumali yata sa school band para sa incentive, sabi lang ni Liam.”

I know that, nasabi niya kagabi. We both have insomnia, we used to relax our minds on the shore and we'll go home if we feel that we are getting sleepy. Ewan ko ba sa aming dalawa kung bakit pareho kaming nagdurusa sa pareho pero magkaibang bagay.

“Oh…” I nodded.

She rolled her eyes, “Halatang walang pakialam! Irereto sana kita.” 

I winced, no thanks. We're just friends.

Stranger named Silas: 

Liam wants me to meet you, they're still clueless hahaha

Emi: 

Same with Mira. She's talking about you transferring here in uni. 

Stranger named Silas:

Want to make fun of them? 

Emi:

How?

Stranger named Silas:

Let's act like we knew each other later, I know he'll introduce us to each other again. 

I'll be like ‘Hi, Miko!’ 

Emi:

They'll tease us, baliw.

Stranger named Silas:

Hindi ‘yan. See you later, Sungit.

Emi:

Whatevs, Kulit.

I chuckled with our silly short messages. Silas is a guy who has this energy when he wants to, sobrang kulit minsan. I shook my head and bit my lower lip as I imagined Liam and Mira's reaction when they saw us talking casually. They will surely throw us an accusing glance. Hindi naman kasi nila alam na nagkita na kami bago pa man kami magkita sa University.
