-TCRI, THE BATTLE-
Yin's cries filled the room as she sobbed over Splinter. The turtles all collectively joined her a couple seconds later. Yin and Mikey were full-on sobbing, Donnie was crying, but not much, Raph and Leo...? They don't like to show emotion a lot but a few tears were shed.
Karai fell to her knees and hung her head while April cried into Casey as he hugged her. The Mutanimals, minus Slash and Leatherhead, all showed their sorrow. Shredder was standing with a cold grin.
"Where's your hope now?", he gloated.
Yin's hungry gaze fixated on him, pupils dilated in anger. "You bastard! I will shove my hope so far up your-!"
"Yin, come on", Donnie put a gentle hand on her shoulder, voice breaking. "We've clearly lost here. We need to go home..."
"What home is there to go to!?" Yin wailed, "nowhere! My real father is a total dick, my other father was cool but I don't really remember him. And now...I lost the father I truly cared about...because of you!" Yin snarled, pointing her rope dart at Shredder, then running towards a hole in the wall and jumping through to the darkness of the night.
"Yin, wait, come back!" Mikey called out, crying. "Don't leave us!"
"Come on, Mikey", April said quietly, Karai and Casey following in total silence. "We have to go. We can't win right now...but one day, we will."
April's words calmed the pain for a moment. Silently and sadly, the turtles carried their master's fallen body out of TCRI, the others following. They heard Shredder laughing wickedly at them leaving, calling them cowards. They weren't being cowards...they were being smart.
Luckily it will be some time before Shredder makes a move on them again. As they moved back home they updated Slash and Leatherhead. Both of them were equally saddened as the rest of them. Besides Master Splinter dying, there was one thing that made them almost just as sad: Yin. Where did she go? Not back home, obviously.
"Where did she go? Donnie, can you track her location from her phone?" Leo asked in a tired manner.
"Looking at it now." Donnie magically pulled out his laptop and looked, then gasped a bit. "She's going to your old summer home, April."
"The farm house?" April blinked a few times. "Why would she want to go there?"
"That place always brought her a piece of mind, for some reason", Karai explained. "Maybe she needed to go their for some meditation."
"That-also...she probably wants to be away from us for awhile. I noticed that she doesn't like being around people when she's sad or in any kind of sad state of mind" Donnie sighed, closing his laptop.
"Yeah", Mikey sniffled, who was still crying. "I...I-I just don't want her t-to be sad a-anymore..."
"Yeah, we know", Raph patted his head. "We all wish the same. And we know you're protective of her. Not as much as Leo", he gave his other brother a smirk.
Leo's face flushed for a second. "I-hey!"
Everyone had a brief chuckle. They decided that Mikey alone would go up to the farm house and try to convince Yin to come back home. Mikey has a real big heart and is a pro at calming people down with words. At around midnight he set out, taking the Party Wagon. By some miracle he left New York safely and is now driving on a quiet rode.
He checks Yin's location again. "The farm house... Oh, please, still be there Yin!"
Once he got there(he sped the whole way and made it three hours), he saw that Yin's location moved and went inside the house. "Yin, it's only Mikey!", he called out. "You don't have to keep hiding."
He stood on the porch, hesitating before knocking a few times. A total minute of silence before the door opened slowly to reveal a broken shell of a human. No light in Yin's eyes, just a dull shadow.
"Are you okay?" Mikey asked, holding out his arms, offering a hug.
She didn't say anything, but she waisted no time in accepting his offer. Hearing her sob only made it worse for him. Mikey hates seeing any of his friends and family sad. He feels like it's his responsibility to make everyone else feel better.
After hugging him for three minutes she finally lets go and wipes the tears off her face. "Hey, Mikey... Sorry. I just-."
"We get it", he sighed, "but the others are worried about you, bro! Why don't you come back?"
"I can't go back", Yin sniffed, "you see? If I go back I'll just be haunted by his spirit and the memories I've made and I don't think I can be around anything that reminds me of him..." She slowly handed out the katana. "Please. Take it. And burn this along with the outfit he gave me. Please..."
"Yin, you...you can't be serious", Mikey's optimistic voice faltered. "This isn't what he-."
"Sensei is gone and there isn't anything that we can do about it, is there", she hissed, "now...please leave. I can't go back. I don't think I'll ever be able to go back."
"Wait-so you're leaving us? For...for good?" Mikey gasped, eyes watering up. "But what about-."
"Take it and leave!" Yin forcefully grabbed his hand and shoved the katana in it. "Tell the others... Tell the others that I'm sorry."
A/N: well, well, well! That's quite a cliffhanger! I'm gonna end this here...and book two will be out soon!
