-PRESENT DAY-

April stood watch while Yin cleaned up in the water. Bathing has never been so good!

It's now suppertime. Yin was starving! But she still feels weird so she got a nice, warm bowl of ramen and went back to the living room. In...in the dark. I guess I'm not used to a healthy family environment. She hasn't tasted ramen since she was four!!

"Hey, Yin!" Yin looked back in the direction of the kitchen. It was Donnie. "You okay?" He sat next to her.

Yin swallowed her noodles before answering. "Yeah, I'm fine... It's just I'm not used to a healthy environment. I guess."

"Yeah, I get that. At least April is down here so you'll have someone more normal to hang out with", he grinned.

"Heh. Yeah, I like her. She's nice." Yin sipped her broth. "Mmmm, I haven't had ramen since I was four."

"Jeez", Donnie winced, "what were you forced to eat over there?"

"Sushi rice. Plain", Yin grumbled.

"Eww", Donnie shook his head back and forth a few times. "You probably won't be wanting that for awhile."

They both laughed lightly. "Thanks, Donnie."

Donnie now looked confused. "For what?"

"For going after me when y'all found me. I guess...I'm just glad that it was you guys who wanted to rescue me."

Donnie's cheeks turned pink for a sec. "Aww shucks, it was nothin'! It was Mickey's idea."

"Hm." Yin was quiet for a moment. "He's very sweet, a goofball."

"Yeah", Donnie chuckled and rolled his eyes. "Say, don't you wanna try and eat with me and the others?"

"Umm..." Yin hesitated for a second. "Well...?" Aww he looks so hopeful and wanting to help. How could I say no? "Sure."

Donnie smiled. "Sweet! After dinner I'm gonna be in my lab and Mikey wants to help me with something. Wanna watch us?"

"Okay." Yin smiled softly.

So they walked back to the kitchen together. Okay, okay, you'll be fine... Yin held it together.

"Heyyy, what's up!" Mikey got off his chair and snatched Yin from the side of Donnie and hugged her. "Glad he could convince you."

"Aw, thanks", Yin chuckled. "But...you almost made me spill my ramen."

"Whoops. Sorry, bro." He gave a sheepish grin and sat back down.

Yin took the seat to the left of him. "It's impressive in here." She looked around.

"Yeah, it's all we had", Splinter said, looking fondly at all his four sons. "But we turned it into something special."

Yin sighed. "Yeah... I can tell. I wish I had a family that I can go to."

April and Mikey spoke at the same time. "Why don't we make her the part of the family!"

"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea", Donnie said.

"I think she has what it takes to hang with us", Leo nodded, giving her a smile.

"It seems like someone isn't giving in their input", Splinter said pointedly, glaring at Raph.

"What! No matter what I say you guys aren't gonna listen to me. She's staying", he rolled his eyes and continued reading a comic.

Yin clenched her hands. "Why do you hate me? It's not like I'm doing this on purpose!"

"I have my reasons." He threw his comic book behind him, braced himself on the counter, and raised his voice. "And I don't need some frail wannabe ninja getting into my business!"
