When the alarm went off I had already been awake for almost two hours. I stayed in the same position, not moving even an inch scared I might have woke Ginny up. She slept peacefully by my side and curled up close to me; every now and then she trembled due to some dream or perhaps nightmare, but as soon as she felt me close to her she immediately stopped. It was wonderful to know that I had such an effect on someone.

I moved her hair from her forehead, leaving a few caresses here and there along with a few chaste kisses on her soft cheeks. She was the sister I had always wanted to have, maybe even better than I had hoped. I was seven years old when she was born, but that never stopped me from being a point of reference for her.

I had woken up before everyone so I could set up the house and prepare breakfast. Mum and Dad hadn't yet returned from Spain after visiting their aunt and uncle, but there were only a few hours left before they would land in London.

I cleaned the kitchen, then tidied up the living room and finally the bathroom so that mom and dad could find the cleanest house possible when they returned. They had been very clear about what they wanted and expected from me, so I really had no choice.

First of all, I prepared four toasts for all of us, four glasses of orange juice, plus Ginny's lunch and only then did I wake everyone up.

Sammie and Shaun came down at the same time, both washed and dressed, Ginny, however, came down only after being called twice more. She was like that: she loved to sleep and that was why she always fell asleep in the car, during the way home to school.

"Good morning." They both said, kissing me on the cheek, immediately sitting down in their seats to eat breakfast.

"Good morning little monkeys." I still used to call them like that, always thinking that they were still children when in reality they had already been teenagers for a while. I couldn't accept the fact that they were growing up too and so I kept holding on tight to little things like the nicknames I gave them when they were little kids running and jumping around the house like crazy and cute monkeys.

When we got into the car it only took Ginny a couple of minutes to fall asleep while Shaun and Sammie talked about a chemistry project they had later in the morning.

Everything seemed to be going well, everything made me think of a normal day, but I had now understood that nothing could go well and that normality didn't exist.

Everyone was laughing when I walked in the school and I didn't understand why. I had just arrived at school and I felt inside me that something was wrong. I had sensed that everything couldn't go well and that it wouldn't be a normal day, but for once I didn't want to be right. I hated that feeling I was having, because it made me think the worst.

It was when I crossed the threshold separating me from the schoolyard that I saw. I saw the flyers covering the walls of the school, all the lockers and any easily reachable places that could be covered. The whole space was filled with photos of him photoshopped to make him look like a prostitute. He had the body of a woman, two slender legs and two feet forced into high-heeled shoes, his breasts were highlighted by two fake nipples and finally there was his face glued on.
